Plateau State University Vice Chancellor sacked

The Vice Chancellor of the newly re-christened Solomon Lar University, Prof. Danjuma Sheni has been relieved of his job by the governor of the state, Jonah Jang.

A statement from the office of the secretary to the governor states that Prof. Danjuma Sheni was removed due to ''inappropriate behaviour''.

The Vice Chancellor is said to be having a running battle with Prof. Sam Ale, an in-law to the governor over the way the university funds are being spent.  Some lecturers also petitioned the anti-graft agency alleging shady contract deals.

The reappointment of Prof. Dadi Davou as the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the school is said to be another issue that caused bad blood between the Vice Chancellor and the governor.  The sacked VC alleged undue interference in the running of the affairs of the school by the governor.
