Pope Francis to make first US visit in 2015

Pope Francis is scheduled to make his first visit to the US in 2015 since being made a Pontiff.
 
The Argentine-born Francis during a speech at the Vatican said , ''I wish to confirm according to the wishes of the Lord, that in September 2015, I will go to Philadelphia for the World Meeting of Families''.
 
During his visit he is also expected to address Congress and deliver a speech to the United Nations to mark its 70th anniversary.
 
 
 

America is home to almost 80 million Roman Catholics, which make up 25% of the US total population.
 
10,000 Philadelphian school children had previously sent hand written notes to Pope Francis encouraging him to visit.
 
The World Meeting of Families scheduled for 25-27 September is expected to attract more than One million people.  Hotels within 10-mile radius of the City Centre of Philadelphia is said to be total sold out.
