Two workers trapped at the world Trade Centre building in New York

Fire fighters were today called to rescue two window cleaners that were trapped on a scaffolding nearly 70 storeys above street level at one world trade centre in New York.

TV image showed one side of the scaffolding platform dangling at a sharp angle.

The building has 104 floors and is 1,776 ft (541 metre) high, making it the tallest building in the Western hemisphere.
