A Nigerian man jailed 10 months in Ghana for impersonating Majid Michel

One Kelvin Ogodogu, a Nigerian, will be spending the next 10 months with hard labour in a Ghanaian prison for impersonating Ghanaian actor, Majid Michel and defrauding a fan of the star thousands of dollars.

Kelvin Ogodogu posed on facebook as the star and was soliciting for funds to bury his dead mother who passed on few weeks back.  A Nigerian who was a great fan of the actor fell for Kelvin’s lies and sent him several thousands of dollars to assist with the burial.

Just like Oliver Twist, Kelvin was said to have kept asking for more money from the woman who goes by the name Ikay.

Unfortunately for Kelvin, the woman was said to have ran into the real Michel Majid in the US recently and she accused him of asking her for more money despite the fact she had sent him several thousands of dollars.  Michel who was said to have been extremely embarrassed denied asking or receiving money from her and informed her that she most likely have fallen prey to an internet fraudster.

A plan in collaboration with Majid, the woman and Ghanaian authorities who all agreed to play along was put in place.  The greedy Kelvin Ogodogu was arrested on 15th November 2014 when he went to receive another money purportedly sent to him by Ikay.
