This is the moment a Burundian police officer opened fire on anti-government protesters at point-blank range, causing a furious mob to attack her with stones and knives. 

The incident took place on the streets of the capital Bujumbura as officers clashed with dozens of rioters who had taken to the street to demonstrate against President Pierre Nkurunziza's controversial bid for third term in office.

Video footage shows the female officer looking agitated as she and her fellow officers slowly move towards the rioters, who stand pressed against a brick wall. Moments later a brief scuffle between one of her colleagues and a rioter leads to her shooting at the man from no more than ten feet.  Read more below ......

Burundi Coup General Orders Closure Of Country Airport, Borders As Burundi President Flies Back To Troubled Nation

 

The Burundian general who launched a coup today has ordered the closure of Bujumbura airport and land borders, as President Pierre Nkurunziza tried to fly home to his troubled nation from Tanzania.

 

“I order the closure of the airport and border, and I ask every citizen and law enforcement down at the airport to protect it,” General Godefroid Niyombare said in the radio broadcast.

Rescue Workers Dug Up A Woman Who Was Attacked And Buried Alive By A BEAR

 

A Russian woman has been buried alive by a bear which was apparently saving her for its next meal after attacking and seriously injuring her.

Mother-of-two Natalya Pasternak, 55, had a miracle escape after her friend managed to flee the forest near Tynda in the Amur region and raise the alarm.

Having left her with serious injuries, the bear mistakenly believed the postal worker to be dead and partially buried her beneath a pile of leaves - apparently planning to return later and eat her.

But having been rescued alive, the woman is now fighting for her life in nearby Tynda Hospital.

Gunmen In Pakistan Kill 43 People As They Attack A Bus Carrying Religious Minority

 

Gunmen on motorcycles boarded a bus and opened fire on commuters in Pakistan's volatile southern city of Karachi on Wednesday, killing at least 43, police said, in the latest attack directed against religious minorities this year.

The pink bus was pockmarked with bullet holes and blood saturated the seats and dripped out of the doors on to the concrete.

"As the gunmen climbed on to the bus, one of them shouted, 'Kill them all!' Then they started indiscriminately firing at everyone they saw," a wounded woman stated.

British Schoolgirls Who Travelled To Marry Militants In Syria Are Said To Be On The Run After Escaping From ISIS

The three British schoolgirls, Shamima Begum, Amira Abase and Kadiza Sultana all pupils of Bethnal Green Academy, who flew to Turkey together, before crossing the border into war-torn Syria earlier last year are said to have escaped from the clutches of ISIS and are now on the run in Iraq.

The girls, thought to be 16, are said to have gone on the run from the extremists, sparking a frantic bid to track them down by the brutal militants, a source within the ISIS-controlled city of Mosul revealed.

The exact identity of the girls and their fate is not known, but their reported ages match those of the three friends from east London, who ran away to join ISIS in February.

It is understood they were following Sharmeena Begum, another friend who travelled there in December.

Breaking News: US Philadephia Train Derailment, 5 Persons Killed, 65 Injured (Photos)

 

An Amtrak train crashed in Philadelphia Tuesday night prompting a mass causality incident that claimed the lives of five people.

 

Train 188 was traveling from Washington D.C. to New York City when it crashed around 9:20pm as it went into a turn just a few miles outside of 30th Street Station.

 

The train, which had been carrying 238 passengers and five crew members at the time of the crash, had seven cars derail, all of which came entirely off the tracks.

 

In addition to the fatalities, 65 people were injured and six were in critical condition, a number that could rise as not all passengers on the train have been accounted for by officials.

 

'This was an absolute disastrous mess,' said Mayor Michael Nutter of Philadelphia. 

 

'I have never seen anything like it in my life.'

The sleepy town of Afugiri in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State has been thrown into confusion following the death of a 54-year-old blind prophet, Onyenonachi Agwu, his wife, two children and landlady.

Prophet Agwu, who was the founder and General Overseer of Faith Healing Tabernacle Ministry at Nkwoegwu, hailed from Umukabia area of Umuahia, but lived at Afugiri while his church was at Nkwoegwu.

He was believed to be full of divine powers as many people had reportedly received solutions to their problems through his prayers.

There have been different stories about what could be the cause of the deaths.

A version of the stories attributed their death to fume from a generator while another version suspected spiritual attack as the late cleric was said to have scheduled deliverance prayers for the sick children of his land lady on the night the incident occurred.

Police Arrest Pastor For Mysterious Death In Church

The police in Lagos have arrested the pastor of a Pentecostal church, Popoola Oluwasomidotun, for the death of one Waheed Majekodumi in the Ipaja area of Lagos State.

It was learnt that the 32-year-old victim was found dead in the church auditorium on Thursday, last week, at the Peace Estate, Baruwa, Ipaja.  It was said that the father of four had entered the church on the fateful day, crying for help.

He was said to have suddenly collapsed on the floor and died.

Policemen from the Ipaja division were said to have been invited. They arrested the pastor and another member of the church, Folashade Ebun. 

Ebun stated that she was on the church premises when the deceased entered the church.

Job Seeker Rapes Schoolgirl To Death In Ogun State

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested an unemployed man, Ishau Arowolo, for allegedly raping a 10-year-old girl, Sofiatu Akilolu, to death in Orisada-Eyo Community in the Yewa South Local Government Area of the state.

25-year-old Arowolo, after raping the girl, allegedly caused her to drown.

It was said that the suspect lurked in a bush near the community river to perpetrate the act.

It was gathered that Sofiatu, who was a Basic five pupil of the Local Government Authority Primary School, had been sent by her parents in company of her childhood friend, Abibatu, to a river in the area to fetch water when she was attacked and was taken under a tree where she was raped by Arowolo. 

A resident, who identified himself only as Jamiu, said Abibatu alerted the community that Sofiatu was being raped in a bush.

He said, “The river is called Agude. It serves the community. That was not the first time little girls would go to fetch water at the place. On that day, the two girls met Ishau (Arowolo) and greeted him.

“Later, they observed he was coming behind them. Suddenly, he grabbed Sofiatu and entered into a bush to carry out the act. The other girl ran back to the community to tell us.
