Gabon to host 2017 Africa Cup of Nations - CAF
Gabon, the central African country has
beaten Algeria and Ghana to the hosting right of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations
The governing body
announced this on Wednesday afternoon in Cairo after the Executive Committee
had voted after all bidding countries had made their presentations.
Caf president Issa
Hayatou made this known just before the qualiifying draws were made.
Gabon beat Algeria and
Ghana to the hosting right of the competition.
The tournament
will come less than five years since Gabon co-hosted the 2012
tournament with neighbours Equatorial Guinea.
The oil rich central
African country has been underlining its status as a veritable host nation with
its hosting of the 2013 French Super Cup match between PSG and Bordeaux.
Court stops DSTV from increasing its subscription fees
A Justice of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, C J Aneke, has
granted an order of interim injunction restraining Multichoice from enforcing
its planned increase in cost on the different classes of its pay TV.
Multichoice, owners of DSTV and GOtv, has announced a 20
percent increase for all its satellite pay TV bouquets in Nigeria which is to
take effect from April 1, 2015 stating
the annual increase is in-line with the prevailing inflation.
The Judge asked all parties to maintain the status quo in
support of the motion ex parte with an affidavit of urgency sworn to by the plaintiff.
The order reads:
''That an order of interim injunction is hereby granted to the
parties to maintain the status quo restraining the 1st defendant (Multichoice/DSTV)
from giving effect or enforcing its planned increase in cost of the different
classes of viewing or programmes bouquet pending the hearing and determination
of the motion on notice’’.

14-year-old boy killed for refusing to join cult
The Cross River State Police
Command has arrested a suspected cultist, one Ita for allegedly killing a
14-year-old David Okon for refusing to join the association.
Ita had attempted to lure the
innocent school boy into the ‘Skylo” cult group at T junction, Ikot Ekpo, 8
Miles Calabar.
However, Okon resisted him, an action which led to his killing.

said to have decamped to APC with her followers. Others also said to have decamped are former
member House of Representative, Hon. Nnanna Uzor Kalu, and ex-Chief of Staff to
Gov. Theodore Orji, Mr. Mascot Uzor Kalu.
The
defection took place when the President-Elect,

Mr. Valery Spiridonov, 30, suffering from a rare muscle wasting disease, Werdnig-Hoffman
A man with a fatal medical condition has opted
to be become the first human being to undergo a head transplant and hopes it
could be as soon as next year.
Valery Spiridonov says he is ready to put his
trust in controversial surgeon Dr Sergio Canavero who claims he can cut off his
head and attach it to a healthy body.
Mr Spiridonov, 30, a computer scientist from
Russia, said: 'My decision is final and I do not plan to change my mind.'
