N300m Dud Cheque: EFCC Witnesses, Testify Against Father and Son

The on-going trial of one Alhaji Musa Sulaiman, Managing Director, Alhaji Musa Suleiman General Enterprise, and his son, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Suleiman who are being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over an alleged issuance of dud cheque to the tune of N300m (three hundred million naira) continued on Friday, December 12, 2014 before Justice Tukur M. Aliu of Kaduna State High Court, Kaduna.

 
At the resumed hearing of the case today, an operative of the EFCC, Buba Abubakar, the fifth prosecution witness, told the court that the accused received consignment of groundnut oil and rice from Stallion Nigeria Limited (Kaduna Branch) to the tune of N300m (three hundred million naira) and issued cheques which were returned unpaid due to insufficient funds.
 
 

Two German Diplomat survive shooting in Saudi Arabia

Two German diplomats have survived a shooting attack on their car while on a visit to eastern  Saudi Arabia, but their vehicle was burnt.
 
A police spokesman said authorities were investigating the rare incident, which took place in the town of Awamiya on Monday evening. No other details were immediately available.
 
In Berlin, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said: "I can confirm that there was an incident during a drive out in the country. The car was shot at and it caught fire. There were no injuries. The embassy in Riyadh has launched an investigation."
 
 
 

Kim Kardashian offered $1 million to spend an evening with a Saudi Arabian Prince

Kim Kardashian is allegedly being paid $1million to spend an evening with a member of the Saudi royal family.  Mrs Kardashian-West is set to fly out to Saudi Arabia in January, as a special guest of the prince, according to reports.

 
The 34-year-old's rumoured visit follows a proposal made by a young Saudi prince, Adel Al-Otaibi,  on her Instagram, offering her 'one million per night'.  He wrote,  'I'm Saudi and I'll pay you one million per night Mai'.




Musiliu Obanikoro sues PDP over Lagos State Governorship primaries

The immediate past Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, has dragged his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, to a Federal High court in Abuja over the conduct of the Lagos State governorship primary which produced Mr. Jimi Agbaje as the winner.
Obanikoro said the move had become necessary as the party had failed to act on his petition in which he complained about the anomalies of the primary.
The former minister said this while addressing supporters and journalists at his campaign office in Lagos on Friday.
 
 

Man dies after drinking 8 cans of Bullet Energy drink

A man, identified as one Elijah Nwankwo, from Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, has allegedly died after drinking eight cans of Bullet Energy drink, following a bet with a friend.
 
This was contained in a statement today by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Enugu State Command, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu.
Amaraizu, in the statement, said the deceased had on Thursday took the bet with one Chikwado Nchionu, to drink eight cans of the energy drink simultaneously, and billed to collect N1,600 upon the successful completion of the task.

A man who said he could not walk without a walking stick caught jogging on a race track

A benefits cheat who claimed he was so weak he needed a walking stick to get around was caught working as a marshal at a race track.
 
Anthony Carter claimed nearly £26,000 in disability allowance while working as a volunteer at the racing circuit in Derbyshire.
 
But investigators were tipped off about the 60-year-old's secret pastime and caught him jogging on the track to pick up debris from a crash.

The Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba Lagos are currently interrogating a middle-aged woman, Comfort Tifase and her children, Olufumbi and Oluropo as regards the circumstances which led to the death of her husband, Moses.
 
According to Vanguard, the deceased who is based in Kano was stabbed to death with a pair of scissor during a fight at Block 285, Flat 6, Jakande Estate Mile 2 on December 6, 2014.
 
 

N1.2m Scam: Court Refuses bail of Suspected Fraudster

A Kaduna State High Court presided over by Justice Mohammed Aliyu, has refused bail of Chimela Darlington, a suspected serial fraudster being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, who parades himself as one of the contractors working on National Integrated Power Project, NIPP, in Taraba State, and duping unsuspecting victims of several millions of naira.
 
Darlington, through his counsel, Tony Mozie, had after his arraignment on December 4, 2014 filed an application for bail pending the determination of the case as the offence was a bailable one.
 
 

Governor Rochas Okorocha pick up governorship form for Imo State

I truly do not understand our politicians.  After aiming for the presidency, you are now coming down to start aiming for governorship position again.  What do we call this,  retrogression?

Any way, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State after crashing out of the APC presidential primaries held yesterday has been hurriedly nominated as the APC governorship candidate for the 2015 gubernatorial election.  He will therefore be flying the APC flag for Imo State.

His son-in-law, who is the Commissioner  for Lands, Chief Uche Nwosu, and who had earlier been elected as the consensus governorship candidate of the party withdrew his candidature.

According to the Chairman of the electoral committee of the party in Imo State, Mr. John Ahembe, he said the party had to organise another gubernatorial primaries in line with the party's constitution to replace Chief Uche Nwosu who withdrew from the race.

Boko Haram: Army uncovers plan by Boko Haram to attack 25 communities

The Nigerian Army (Special Forces) have gotten hold of a hit list said to be plans by the insurgents, Boko Haram to attack 25 communities and villages in the North Eastern part of the country.

The list which was uncovered during an operation at the Balmo Forest targeted communities and villages across Adamawa, Borno, Bauchi, Gombe and Yobe States.

Seven of the villages are said to be in Adamawa State, while the rest are in the other four states namely, Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe and Borno.

The Defence authorities said the listed villages and communities will no be mentioned so as not to cause panic and fear.

Security have however been beefed up in the mentioned area.

41-year-old dad repeatedly had sex with his 13-year-old daughter after she found him through facebook

A 41-year-old man has been sentenced to 6 years imprisonment by the Sheffield Crown Court for repeatedly defiling his 13-year-old daughter over a 6-month period.
 
The school girl who got to know her long-lost dad for the first time at age 13, was able to track him through facebook and friend's posting, found out that he was living in South Yorkshire.
 
He then invited the school girl to stay longer with him after their first meeting.  But he then went on to repeatedly have sex with her on a regular basis over a six month period.

13-year-old girl wearing a suicide vest arrested in Kano

Security forces have confirmed the arrest of a 13-year-old girl on Wednesday in the ancient city of Kano State wearing a suicide vest.

 
The girl who was accompanied by a male accomplice, walked into a clinic seeking for medical treatment.

 
The clinic which is just 20 kilometers from the scene of a double suicide attacked by two women in a textile market hours earlier raised suspicion and security forces were promptly alerted.  When the girl was searched, police discovered explosives hidden under her hijab.  She and her male accomplice were quickly whisk away for further interrogation.
