APGA is now an empty shell - Peter Obi

Former Governor of Anambra State Peter Obi has explained the reason why he dumped APGA for PDP. He said APGA has derailed and turned into an empty shell without an inner core of shared value.

He was reacting to the disappointment expressed by Mrs. Bianca Ojukwu, wife of the late Biafran Lord, Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu for defecting to the ruling party PDP.

No deal with Korea for the release of Jeffrey Fowle

US Secretary of State John Kerry said today that the US did not enter any deal with North Korea for the release of Jeffery Fowle one of the detained Americans.

 

Jeffery Fowle, 56 was arrested in May for leaving a bible at a sailors club in Chongjin City Korea.  He was freed on Tuesday and has since re-joined his family back home in the US.

 

Kerry says they are still very much concern with the other Americans still be held in North Korea.  And hope that North Korean government will do the right thing and release them.

 

 

First I was shocked, then sad when I saw Renne Zellweger - Piers Morgan

For so many years actress Renne Zellweger literary disappeared only to reappear this month with a different face.  Many were shocked at the transformation which many feel did not do her any good.

Piers Morgan wrote in mailonline today and said he doesn't understand why a woman would choose to desecrate herself in such an awful way.  That when he saw Renee, his reaction first was that of shock, but later it turned to sadness.  That she has succeeded in morphing herself into a fake-featured blonde that bestrides every street in LA.

Many old Hollywood actresses try to fight the ravages of age, Hollywood sexism which dictates that an actress who is over 50 years should not be seen or heard of again.

Once and for all I am not Khloe's dad!

Few days back there was a rumour that Lionel Richie might be Khloe Kardashian's biological father.

When TMZ confronted him at Madeo on Monday night with this rumour, Richie was said not to have answered immediately.   But then laughed and said though he cares very much for Khloe, off course he was not her dad.

Khloe's paternity made headlines again when a tabloid claimed Lionel Richie was her biological father. 

In the past O.J. Simpson had also be linked to the reality star as her dad.

 

Update: Canada Parliament shooting - more than one attacker involve - Police

A soldier standing guard at the Canada's National war memorial in Ottawa was shot by an unknown gunman today.  The gunman was later killed in a shootout inside the parliament building.

 

Police confirmed that they are looking for more than one attacker.  Witnesses said the gunman was carrying a rifle and fired dozens of shots.

 

While the parliament remain on lock down police have warned people to stay away from windows and roof tops.

One person has been shot dead at a war memorial building close to the Parliament House in Ottawa, Canada.

The gunman who fired several shots was later pursued into the parliament building

The Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper who was inside the building at the time of shooting has be evacuated.  And the house is presently on lockdown.

Pope Francis exchanged his Papal cap for a baseball cap

Pope Francis swapped his papal cap for a baseball cap during his general audience in St Peter's Square today.  The pontiff bowed his head and happily accepted the gift while speaking to a huge crowd in the Vatican City, Rome.  He then continued the sporty theme by welcoming the victorious Bayern Munich team to the Vatican after its 7-1 Champions League rout of Roma.

CEO Karl Heinz Rummenigge said it was 'a great honour' for the German club and announced Bayern would donate to Francis one million euros in proceeds from a future friendly match for charitable purposes.  Rumminegge told Francis it would be up to him to use the money 'to help people in need wherever they are in the world and regardless of their faith,' the team's website reported.  They then presented him with a signed jersey with no.1  and Francis across the back.

Khloe Kardashian is having difficulties divorcing Lamar

The marriage between Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom is over to both of them.  But the reality star, who is 30 years, and who filed the divorce papers more than 10 months ago is still in the eyes of the law legally married to Lamar.  This is because she is unable to track down Lamar and get him to sign the divorce papers.

 

A friend to Khloe said, ''Khloe cannot even get in touch with him right now''.  Another source says the athlete is still hoping for a reconciliation.  But Khloe just want to get the divorce issues over with and move on.

 

Jim Iyke joins politics

Jim Iyke like some of his colleagues has decided to also join politics.  He is the Director General of a newly registered party called Young Democratic Party  in the diaspora. 


According to Daily Independent he has this to say,  ''We just want to say enough is enough. It is time power and our policies shift hands to fresher minds, to stronger fortes, to people that are ready to move with the momentum of time, tide and changes. But it cannot be conceivable if you are saddled in that position for over two decades? How can you grow? How can you go with the tide of time? Biologically too, time will catch up with you because you are growing old in that position.

A suspect Chike Pauline, 40 years, was nabbed during an outward screening of passengers on board a Rwanda Air flight with 1kg of drugs suspected to be methamphetamine by the NDLEA.

 

Chike who confessed to the crime operates a medicine business in Aba Abia State before his arrest and was planning to smuggle the drug into Bujumbura, Burundi.

 

He stated during interrogation that it was unfortunate he was caught.  That he was lured into smuggling the drug so as to be able to raise money for his wedding.  He said,  “I am a patent medicine dealer in Aba, Abia State. My arrest is very unfortunate because I am a hardworking person. I was deceived into drug trafficking because I was desperate to perform my marriage ceremony by the end of the year. I was optimistic that I would not be arrested, but things did not go according to my expectation. What must I do to set myself free from this predicament?''

 

 

Nigerian youths are being killed daily in Dubai

Sport journalist Aisha Falode in a passionate letter to President Jonathan has asked him to tackle the meaningless and daily killing of Nigerian youth in United Arab Emirates.

She said the Nigerian government need to confront Dubai and demand for justice over the killing of so many Nigerian youths.   She said, “For record emphasis, my son was thrown from the balcony of a 17-floor apartment in Manchester Tower in Dubai. A Saudi boy resident in Dubai confessed to the murder; he had my son’s blood on his T-shirt, he had my son’s blood on his knuckles and boasted about serving time for 25 years in prison, if it comes to the worst.   “His murderer has a name-Faisal Aldakmary Al-Nasser.

N50m spent to buy beds for Fayemi and his wife - Fayose

In a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday and signed by Lere Olayink, the Special Assistant on information and social media; Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose has accused his predecessor, Dr. Kayode Fayose of living an extravagant lifestyle by spending N50m on their beds during his stay in the government house.

 

The statement also described the government house (built with N3.3.b) as an act of insensitivity to the plight of the Ekiti people.

 

We are responsible for the death of the Newswatch Editor - Robber Suspects

According to the police command in Lagos, four suspects Adeshina Festus, Sunday Smauel, Ibrahim Adeokin and Babatunde Makinde were all arrested from their hideout at Ajelogo, Mile 12 on 17th October, 2014.

During interrogation, it was discovered that the suspects were responsible for the death of the owner of a Toyota salon car with number plate AKD 701 CE belonging to Mr. Toyin Obadina, the Newswatch Assistant Editor who was killed on Friday February 1, 2014.
