Man abandons bride-to-be at the registry on sighting first wife

A 57 year-old man simply identified as Valentine, abandoned his bride to be at the registry and took to his heels during a marriage registration ceremony over the weekend at the Oredo Local Government Council marriage registry in Benin, Edo state.

 

It was gathered that the embattled groom allegedly abandoned the marriage formalities when he sighted his wife of 17 years who stormed the venue to disrupt the marriage.

 

 

  

Wife commit suicide by jumping into fire use in cremating dead husband

A 65-year-old Indian woman died after allegedly throwing herself on to her dead husband’s funeral pyre, police said on Monday.

Gahwa Devi reportedly waited until the pyre was unattended at the weekend before committing sati, a 700-year-old Hindu custom of a wife dying with a dead husband, banned under current law.

Two in court for stealing N7million from ATM

The police on Friday arraigned two men for stealing N7m from an Automated Teller Machine belonging to the First Bank of Nigeria Plc.
 

The incident was said to have occurred between November 30 and December 1, 2014 at the Lagos State University branch of the bank.

 

The police said the money was stolen without breaking or damaging the ATM, adding that they suspected that the crime must have been committed by people within the organization.

 

 

 

Woman cut off her child's sex organ (Caution, photos are very graphic)

A 30-year-old woman in Manengole, Nkongsamba in Cameroon is with the police for cutting off her child's sex organ.  The child, 3-year-old, Njankep Alexandre is in intensive care in a protestant hospital.  While the woman is in prison awaiting trial.

She is yet to give any reason for this despicable act.

Father God have mercy!  Some women truly do not deserve children.

I didn't know about Stella's tummy tuck that turned tragic - Gen. Obasanjo

A former President, Olusegun Obasanjo has said that he had no knowledge of his late wife, Stella’s plan to undergo the cosmetic procedure that led to her death.

 

Mr. Obasanjo disclosed this in his autobiography, My Watch, which was released on December 8.
The late first lady died on October 23, 2005, following a botched tummy tuck – elective liposuction – procedure in Spain. The surgery was scheduled towards the commemoration of her 60th birthday.

 

 

 

N1.2million Bribe: Court Orders Medical Doctor's Arrest

A Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja today issued a bench warrant against the Medical Director of Federal Medical Centre, Owo, Ondo State, Dr Olufemi Omotoso for failing to appear in court for arraignment in a N1.2 bribe case.

 

Omotoso and his alleged accomplice Ayo Owoka, who is a lawyer, were charged to court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on a 5-count charge bordering on conspiracy, offering of gratification and giving false information to a public officer.

A Chinese teenager executed for murder, declared innocent after 18 years

The family howled, screamed and cried when they were told their teenage son who was executed 18 years ago for rape and murder was actually innocent.

 

Hugjiltu was just 18 years in 1996 when he was found guilty of raping and murdering a woman in Hohhot, Mongolia and was executed just 61 days after.

 

Doubts however arose when another man confessed to the crime in 2005.  This made the Inner Mongolia Higher People's Court in Bobotu last month to reopen the case.

Sydney hostage siege ends, 2 killed including the gunman, 3 injured

The police stormed the café in Central Sydney where a gunman, Man Haron Monis had been holding hostages for more than 16 hours.  Police fired automatic weapons and brought to an end a siege that has placed the whole of Sydney, Australian under great tension.

Two  people were confirmed dead, while three were injured.  Seven people were seen being taking away in stretchers.

The gunman, man Haron Moris was also killed during the take over by the police.

 

 

 

Ugandan maid who assaulted a toddler has been sentenced to 4 years imprisonment

The  Ugandan maid who has been under going trial for assaulting a toddler has been sentenced to four years in jail. 

In a case which sparked international outrage after a video was released of  Jolly Tumuhirwe, 22, beating, kicking and stamping on the 18-month-old child. 

Chief Magistrate Lillian Buchan told Tumuhirwe she had committed an "unjustifiable and inexcusable" crime.   She said the sentence was appropriate in light of the "ruthlessness exhibited" on an "innocent, helpless child".

Has Mel B's husband, Stephen Belafonte been assaulting her?

Mel B missed her appearance on Saturday’s X Factor and also missed her contestant Andrea Faustini leaving the competition.  But accusations are now buzzing on social media  is that her husband Stephen Belafonte has been hitting her.

A 32-year-old Sani Saidu is now with the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Yaba, Lagos over the stabbing of his boss, Shittu Aremu to death.

 

Shittu Aremu, a truck driver was allegedly killed by Sani Saidu while he was accompanying him to Port Harcourt, Rivers State to make delivery of 40,000 litres of petroleum products.

 

According to Vanguard,  the late Aremu whose age was put around 56 years, was a driver to S.K Transport Service Nigeria Limited . He reportedly loaded the truck with plate number AGL 368 XA with aviation fuel worth N5.5 million and consequently left Lagos for Port Harcourt on November 13, 2014, to discharge the product.  But before leaving Lagos State, he was said to have invited Saidu to work with him as his motor boy, with a promise to pay him an undisclosed amount at the end of the trip. But little did he realize that the invitation would end his life. 

 

 

66-year-old Community Head Assasinated in Edo State

Gunmen numbering about seven over the weekend  invaded the residence of the Odionwere (Community Head) of Power-Line Community in Ugbowo, Benin City, Edo State. He was shot dead while three of his tenants received gunshot injuries.

 

The deceased, Pa. John Asemota, 66-year-old community head was shot on his head and back when the gunmen stormed his residence at 9:30p.m on Saturday.

 

 

Several people held hostage by an armed assailant at a cafe in Sydney, Australia

Australian police locked down the centre of the country's biggest city this morning after an armed assailant walked into a downtown Sydney café and took people hostage and forced them to display an Islamic flag.

 

Authorities said so far they are aware of just one armed assailant involve at the café.  But that there could be more.
