As many as 200,000 boys and girls are kidnapped in China every year and sold openly online, it’s been reported.

Child trafficking has been a long-standing problem in China, but despite the efforts of the authorities, the sinister practice is thriving, leading to thousands of families being torn apart.

The US State Department believes that 20,000 children are snatched every year – that’s 400 a week

However, Chinese state media says the figure could be as high as 200,000, according to the BBC.

A 5-year-old girl is HIV positive after she contracted the virus after being raped by her mother’s 72-year-old boyfriend.

According to the report, the girl, her sister and their friend were raped over a period of eight months by the man known as “Mdala” in an informal settlement in Mitchells Plain.

Eleven feared dead in US Military helicopter crash

Seven US Marines and four aircrew were feared dead Wednesday after an army helicopter crashed during a night training exercise in Florida, military officials said.

The UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter was reported missing Tuesday around 8:30 pm (0030 GMT Wednesday) near Eglin Air Force Base. The area was under heavy fog.

A US military official stated that all 11 personnel were feared dead, but officials were still treating the matter as a search and rescue mission.

This is the picture of a six-year-old boy whose hand was savagely hacked off by hired assassins who collect albino body parts for witchdoctors to turn into charms and potions for their rich clients.

Baraka Cosmas was attacked on Saturday evening by a group of men, who stormed into the home he shared with his parents in western Tanzania.

The young boy was held down while the gang chopped off his right hand, before beating him and his mother Prisca Shaaban so badly both have been hospitalised.

Prof. Soyinka has again called out Patience Jonathan for her vulgar and uncultured uttrances

During the public presentation of a book titled, ‘’Modern and Tradition Elites in the Politics of Lagos’’ yesterday in Lagos, Professor Soyinka accused the Presidency of having thrown restrain to the wind with several uncultured and vulgar utterances that have been attributed to its members.   

He cited the statement attributed to the first lady, Patience Jonathan during a PDP rally in Lokoja, Kogi State, where she asked PDP supporters to stone members of the opposition as a good example. 

Prof. Soyinka stated,  

“Speaking as objectively as is possible in such circumstances, I would say that, among the various camps, the most reckless and indecorous has sadly proved the incumbency camp, where restraint has been thrown to the wind with such abandon that even highly privileged spouses have publicly urged supporters to stone any voices raised in opposition to their cause, All of us here have passed through the electoral process furnace before now and I suspect we would mostly agree that never before have we been subjected to this level of sheer venom, crudity of and vulgar abuse of language in such prodigal quantities as in this current political exercise, The very gift of communication, considered the distinguishing mark of cultured humanity even in polemical situations, has been debased, affecting even thought processes, I often suspect,” he added.

One Smith Jadesimi, 28, who claimed to be the son of Nigerian billionaire, Ladi Jadesimi, and donated his kidney to a 21-year-old Israeli law student in far away Israel, which was all over the internet yesterday, have now been disappointed following the disclosure by the Jadesimi family that the said Smith is an impostor who goes by the name Edafe Ofor. 

Ladi Jadesimi is the executive chairman of Lagos Deep Offshore Logistics Base, and a director at FCMB. According to him, the family does not know and has never had any contact with the said Edafe. He said that the picture is a fraud and the boy has been going about deceiving people.

A two-day old baby abandoned by the roadside on Sunday has been named after a late businessman and philanthropist, Molade Okoya-Thomas.

It was gathered that the baby was first sighted around 4pm at Marina, close to Wema Bank Plc. He was later picked up by a Good Samaritan who runs a non-governmental organisation in Lagos.

The baby, it was learnt, was subsequently taken to the family support unit of the Nigeria Police Force, Adeniji Adele Division. From there, he was on Monday handed over to the Lagos State Government who had since taken responsibility for the child.

Gunmen kidnap Bauchi APC Assembly candidate

Gunmen on Monday kidnapped the All Progressives Congress’ candidate for the Bauchi State House of Assembly seat for Ganjuwa West constituency, Alhaji Yusuf Dadiye.

He was said to have been kidnapped on Monday night on his way to Miya from Bauchi.

Confirming the incident to newsmen, the Area Commander in charge of the Central Zone of the Nigeria Police, ACP Bassey Udoh, said investigation was ongoing to apprehend the culprits and bring them to justice.
