Indications have emerged that former military president General Ibrahim Babangida will return to the country on Saturday, November 1.  The former president has been in Germany for medical treatment.

President Jonathan picks PDP 2015 presidential elections form tomorrow

A press release signed by Mr. Reuben Abati, Special Adviser to the president on Media and Publicity is out stating that President Jonathan will pick up the PDP presidential nomination form for the 2015 presidential elections tomorrow.

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan will tomorrow, Thursday, October 30 pick up the PDP nomination form for the 2015 Presidential elections.

President Jonathan thanks all Nigerians, members of the PDP, friends, associates, and all groups who in sincere appreciation of the achievements of the administration in the last four years, have been urging him to seek a second term in office.

President Jonathan is greatly encouraged by the overwhelming outpouring of goodwill and support, as well as the confidence of the generality of Nigerians in his ability to continue to transform the country for the good of all of its  people.

The President is also grateful to all the persons, groups and communities who have sent donations, and made pledges to assist him to pay the required N22 million for the PDP Presidential Nomination Fee and Expression of Interest Form.

President Jonathan presented with the African Women Championship trophy today

The President officially received the Super Falcons today at the presidential villa just before the Federal Executive Council meeting.  After receiving the African women championship trophy they won in Namibia last week, President Jonathan thanked the Super Falcons for making the nation proud promising that the nation would honour them at all times.

Oh dear! After touching down at Burbank airport on Monday following her appearance at  the Code Mobile Conference in San Francisco, the 34-year-old Keeping Up With the Kardashians star's white-hot look nearly exposed her nipples!

Kim's conference outfit consisted of a tight white long-sleeved top made of a thin fabric that slightly showed off her nipples (oops!). Kim's sexy top was paired with a white skirt and tan heels. As for her beauty look, North West's mama looked sleek and gorgeous with her long straight hair tucked back behind her ears.

Authorities have come out to say Dr. Craig Spencer, the first Ebola patient to be diagnosed in New York City initially lied about his travels around the city following his return from Africa where he was treating Ebola patients.
 

Nigeria and other African countries to import petroleum products for the next 20 years

Nigeria and other African countries who are dependent on importation of  petroleum products will continue to do so for the next 20 years despite the availability of functional and semi-functional refineries on the continent.  And the plans to build more refineries in Angola, Uganda, Mozambique and Nigeria Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke has said.
 
 

Pope Francis prays for Ebola victims

Pope Francis at his general audience today again spoke of his concerns and prayed for those affected by the Ebola scourge  He said,  “In the face of the worsening Ebola epidemic, I wish to express my deep concern about this relentless disease that is spreading especially in the African continent, above all among the most disadvantaged population.”
 
The Holy Father expressed his closeness to all those suffering from Ebola, “as well as to the doctors, nurses, volunteers, religious institutes and associations, who are working heroically to help our brothers and sisters who are sick,” and assured them of his affection and prayers.
 

Kelly Khumalo, girlfriend to murdered Bafana Bafana Captain breaks her silence

Girlfriend to the late Senzo Meyiwa, murdered Bafana Bafana Captain, Kelly Khumalo released a short statement after the murder of her boyfriend in her home in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni.
 
Kelly in her statement says, , “Kelly Khumalo and her family would like to express their sincere condolences to the Meyiwa family for the loss of Senzo Meyiwa, who was tragically shot at their family home in Vosloorus, in the presence of Kelly’s family [her mother Ntombi, sister Zandi, and son Christian, Tumelo and Mthoko [Senzo's friends] and Longwe Twala,”
 

SYNAGOGUE: Explosion was not the cause of building collapse - Chief Medical Examiner

During the Coroner's Inquest set up to investigate and look into the cause of the building collapse at the Synagogue Church of all Nations yesterday; Professor John Obafunwa, a Consultant Pathologist ruled out claims of an explosion as the cause of the building collapse. Stating that none of the victims body showed any evidence of blast injuries.
 
 

Zambian President, Michael Sata dies at 77

Zambian President Michael Sata, who was nicknamed "King Cobra" for his fiery tongue and larger-than-life personality died yesterday aged 77.  No reason has been given as to the cause of his death.  But Sata was said to have travelled to London on unspecified medical grounds last week.

George Zulu, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said he received the news with shock.  That despite the fact that he knew Sata was sick, he never thought the sickness will end in death.
 

Provost jailed 5 years for stealing

The Acting Provost of the College of Education, Gusau, Zamfara State Dr. Shallah Ahmed has been sent to five years imprisonment by the Zamfara State High Court sitting in Gusau for embezzlement.
 
Mr. Folu Olamiti of the ICPC said the anti-graft commission arraigned Dr. Shallah Ahmed for collecting the sum of N385,000 from both his institution as well as from JAMB as tour allowance to attend a board meeting of JAMB .
 
 

Resign now or face impeachment! PDP to Hon. Tambuwal

The speaker of the House of Representatives has been called upon to tender in his resignation since he has defected to the opposition party or face impeachment.
 
Tambuwal who gave reasons for defecting to the opposition from the PDP says new developments in the Sokoto chapter of the PDP and calls from members of his constituency necessitated his defection.
 
The defection ended months of speculation over his political future.  It has also thrown up questions on whether he would resign, be impeached or remain on his seat as the Speak of the House.
