The World Health Organization has approved a rapid test for the Ebola virus which can deliver a diagnosis in just 15 minutes.
In what could be a breakthrough for bringing the epidemic in West Africa to an end, the test kits will be deployed to countries affected by Ebola within a matter of weeks.

Julia Roberts has lost her mother, Betty Lou Bredemus to cancer


Julia Roberts has lost her mom to cancer.  The actress mom, betty Lou Bredemus died after battling lung cancer in the early hours of today.  She was aged 80 years.

Julia's mom in the last two months of her illness has been living at Julia's Loa Angeles home, along with the Oscar winning husband Molder and their 3 children.

Betty Lou's passing comes just a year after her daughter Nancy Moles - Julia's half sister committed suicide from a drug overdose in February last year.

Man gets 15 years jail term for raping a 7-year-old girl


 
A middle aged man, Adamu Abdullahi, was on Thursday, sentenced to a 15-year jail term by a Bauchi State High Court sitting in Bauchi, the state capital, for raping a seven-year-old girl.
 
The convict, who was dragged before the court, presided over by Bauchi State Chief Judge, Justice Rabi T. Umar, by the state Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Dauda Yakubu, was said to have raped the minor, names withheld.

Alfa kills and shares body of friend with others

An Alfa in the Oko Agbonla, Magbon area of Badagry, Lagos State, Fatai Afobaje, has been accused of conspiring with some security men in his area to kill his friend, Rafiu Suleiman.
 
Police sources said after the 40-year-old was dead, Afobaje, along with five others, shared his remains among themselves for ritual purposes.
 
It was gathered that what remained of the late Kwara State indigene was recovered by men of the Nigeria Police Force on Monday, after an intensive search.

For 21-year-old Musa Isa, who is from the Niger Republic, his major mission to Kwara State, Nigeria was to work and get money to feed himself and later marry.
 
Isa was one of the 120 illegal immigrants arrested and paraded by the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kwara State Command, on Thursday for not having valid documents.
 
He said he had stayed in Kwara State for about 10 years without documents and without arrest until Wednesday when he was nabbed by immigration officials.
