Richard Branson of Virgin Atlantic intend to take his family to space despite the crash of his spaceship

Richard Branson despite the mishap that happened to his space shuttle during the test flight has vowed to take his family into orbit on board one of his Virgin Galatic rocket.
 
He also said he would not allow customers who had paid for the trip to take any of the rocket until he is absolutely certain of their safety.  He said, ''we need to be absolutely certain our spaceship has been thoroughly tested - and it will be.  And once it is thoroughly tested and we can go to space, and we will go to space.  We must push on.  There are credible things that can happen through mankind being able to explore space properly.''

Girl 3 shot by 4-year-old brother

A 3-year-old Ohio girl is in critical condition after being shot in the head by her 4-year-old brother, who found a gun in a dresser.
 
The shooting occurred around 10 a.m. Sunday in Lorain, about 30 miles west of Cleveland. Police say the two children were playing alone in a bedroom when the boy found a loaded .40-caliber handgun.
 
A police report says the father of the 3-year-old girl was holding her in his arms when officers arrived. The report says the 4-year-old boy was crying and that he repeatedly told an officer he was sorry.
 
 

Lupita Nyong'o is the GLAMOUR cover personality for Dec 2014

A year ago, nobody knew who Lupita Nyong'o was.  Then 12 years a slave was released and immediately she captured the world.  After that Lupita redefined what success is.  The film 12 years a slave won her an Oscar.
 
 31-year-Lupita Nyongo'o was born in Mexico after her political activist father went into exile.  She later came back with the family to Kenya where she was educated as a child before attending college in Massachusetts.  She later finished from Yale in 2012 with a Master's degree.

Bomb blast in Yobe State, At least 10 persons dead

There was pandemonium in the commercial town of Potiskum, Yobe State today as a suicide bomber, believed to be a member of the Islamic fundamentalist group, Boko Haram detonated a bomb on a procession of Shiites Muslim group celebrating the new Islamic year.
 

HIV-Positive pateints protest lack of Anti-retroviral drugs

HIV-Positive patients shut the office of the National Agency for the Control of Aids (NACA) citing their inability to access subsidized anti-retroviral drugs.

The protesters who all came with their bed sheets and other sleeping materials got to the premises of NACA as early as 6am and besieged the office of the Director General of NACA, Prof. John Idoko; and prevented him and other members of staff from entry their offices.  They also threatened to lock up the office for up to 25 days.

Prof. Idoko later came out to appeal to them and assured them that their grievances will be look into.

Jail break in Kogi State, 114 inmates set free

There was a jail break at the Koton-karfi Prison in Kogi State.  Gunmen invaded the prison and set at least 114 inmates free.
 
The State Controller of prison Mr. Adams Omale said the attack happened between 9.30pm and 10pm on Sunday.  He said of the 145 inmates, 119 of them were awaiting trial while 26 were convicted.  Omale added that one of the inmates was killed during the jail break.
 
 

World Trade Centre New York opened for business today!

Thirteen years after the 9/11 terrorist attack, the newly re-built World Trade Centre has opened for business.
 
The 104-story, $3.9billion skyscraper built on the 16-acre site where the two destroyed towers once stood is now American tallest building and will be dominating the Manhattan skyline.
 
The 8 year construction of the 1,776 foot high skyscraper came after years of political, financial and legal fighting that threat ended to derail the project.
 
Skidmore, Owings and Merrill firm produced the final design of the tower which was built with steel reinforced concrete that makes it as terror attack proof as possible.
 
Amongst the occupants are Conde Nest, Kids Creative, Legends Hospitals, BMB Group, Servcorp etc.

24 migrants found dead off the Coast of Turkey

24 suspected migrants from Afghanistan and Syria  where found dead after a boat conveying them sank of the coast of Istanbul Turkey.

Coast guards, helicopters, police vessels are scanning the sea for more survivors.  it is not yet clear how many people were on the boat.  The coast guard reported that 24 dead bodies have so far been recovered and seven survivors rescued.

Bodybuilder to spend 6 months in jail for false claim of disability

A former Mr. Wales who claimed Pound 28,232 for disability benefits while competing in body building will be spending the next six months in jail.
 
Mr. Peter Beddoe claimed he was too weak to walk but visited the gym on a daily basis and competed in several competitions all over the country. Despite the fact he claimed not to be able to walk, he was found to have visited the gym 1,100 times and used weight in training.

The TV reality star and her man stepped out on Saturday to attend the Los Angeles County Museum of Arts and Film Gala in Los Angeles.
 
Kim wore a royal blue Cushnie et Ochs dress that showed plenty of leg and complemented the look with Tom Ford heels and a Cartier neck piece.

KZN International Football Academy To Be Named After Meyiwa

While speaking at the memorial service held for the slain Bafana Bafana goalkeeper on Saturday, KZN premier Senzo Mchunu said the KwaZulu-Natal International Training Centre and Football Academy will be named after  Senzo Meyiwa.  The memorial service was held at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
 
 
“To rename this academy after Senzo will be a fitting tribute to him because he dedicated his entire life towards soccer” said Mchunu.
 

A barman is currently battling with injuries at the hospital for starring at a customer's girlfriend

A barman, Simeon Tenebe, is currently treating serious injuries he sustained when a customer who accused him of starring at his girlfriend attacked him.  The incident happened at a hotel located on Obokun Avenue in Ojodu area of Lagos.
 
It was gathered that Friday Kelvin who is a resident of Ojodu Abiodun street in Ogun State had gone to drink at the hotel with his girlfriend at about 6pm on the fateful day.
 

Thugs beheads a motorcyclist and disappears with his head

Segun Atupa, a motorcyclist was hacked to death and his head severed and taken away by a cultist group on Adifase Street in Bariga Lagos

It was learnt that the deceased was attacked because the cultist group sees Atupa as an informant for  a rival political group in the area.  The thugs were said to have attacked him around 8pm, after killing him, severed his head and dumped his body beside a canal on the street.

Six Nigerian Military officers arrested for abandoning their duty post

Six military officers and unspecified number of soldiers are currently in detention for abandoning their duty post at Mubi, Naralaba, Michika, Madagali and Vimtim when the communities were attacked by Boko Haram.
 
The defence authorities are investigating the activities of these personnel in relation to the fighting and capturing of these communities.  They stated that the tactical withdrawals of the soldiers from their duty posts was a show of cowardice.
