FIFA gives Nigeria up till Friday 31st October to resolve its crises

World football governing body, FIFA, has extended its deadline to ban Nigeria from all football competitions to Friday.

FIFA had initially threatened to sanction the country on Monday if the crisis rocking the Nigerian Football Federation was not resolved.  This followed a ruling by a Jos High Court Judge, which sacked the board of the NFF, after declaring illegal the election of the Amaju Pinnick board.

The suit was instituted by Chris Giwa, whose initial suit had led to the suspension of Nigeria by FIFA from football competitions shortly after the World Cup.

Prince Philip, husband to the Queen of England now uses double hearing aid.

It is not known how long the 93-year-old Duke has worn the hearing aids. They only became noticeable because of a thin wire next to each ear. 

Despite a string of health concerns in recent years, he continues to belie his years and carries out several official engagements.
 
 

Body of Diepriye Alamieseigha's dead son arrives Nigeria

The body of Oyoms Alamieseigha, the son of the former governor of Bayelsa State who was murdered in Dubai arrived Nigeria today form Dubai.  The body will be flown to Port Harcourt.

Oyoms was murdered on 11th October 2014 in his father's house in Dubai by unknown people who are still at large,

Investigation is still on going to unravel those behind the murder.

The 26-year old gave birth on September 26.  Snooki and Jionni will be walking down the aisle later in the year.

Australia is the first country to ban all travellers from Ebola ravaged countries

Australia becomes the first country to ban all travellers from the three West African countries presently being ravaged by Ebola.
 
The Australian Immigration Minister, Scott Morrison told parliament that government was cancelling all non-permanent and temporary visas for people from Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea.  And will also require all permanent visa holders coming from these countries to undergo a mandatory 21-day quarantine upon their return to Australia.
 
 

Bafana Bafana Captain, Senzo Meyiwa to be laid to rest on Saturday 1st Nov. 2015

According to a statement released by Orlando Pirates, the late Bafana Bafana Skipper, Senzo  Meyiwa will be laid to rest in his home town of Umlazi in Durban on Saturday, November 1, 2014.
 
Orlando Pirates boss, Dr. Irvin Khoza while visiting the family of the deceased said Senzo was like a son to him.  That he started playing for Orlando in his mid-teens.
 
Senzo's family will be in Johannesburg to identify his remains for onward journey to Durban.

Two "419'' men to spend 21 years in jail for N30 million scam

Justice Fatu Riman of the Federal High Court Kano today October 28, 2014 convicted and sentenced the duo of Mohammed Adam Mansur and Mohammed Auwal to twenty one years imprisonment after they pleaded guilty to the 3-count charge of conspiracy and obtaining money by false pretence preferred against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
 

 

A coal mine has collapsed in Turkey, trapping 23 works

A coal mine in southern Turkey has collapsed, trapping 23 workers inside.
 
TRT television says the tragedy occurred today in the town of Ermenek, in Karaman province, and that eight other miners were quickly rescued.  Rescue teams are currently trying to pull out the trapped miners.
 
The mine collapse was likely to raise more concerns about persistent mine safety issues in the country.  In May, a fire inside a coal mine in Soma, western Turkey, killed 301 people. Turkey's worst mining disaster, it exposed poor safety standards and superficial government inspections in the country's mines.
 

Aminu Tambuwal finally dumps PDP for APC

News just coming in says the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Aminu Tambuwal, formally declared for the All Progressives Congress today.

He said his defection was due to Political Developments in Sokoto State. He made the announcement today at the  House Plenary.

Newcastle United fan falls in front of a moving train on his way to watch his favourite team

A Newcastle United fan Darren White is presently fighting for his life after falling in front of a moving train on his way to support his team.  Darren White suffered horrific injuries after collapsing on a platform at Bexleyheath Station, London, on Sunday morning - hours before Toon's visit to Tottenham Hotspur's White Hart lane stadium.

Second Dallas nurse now free of Ebola

Amber Vinson, the second Dallas nurse who contracted the Ebola virus after treating Liberian Thomas Eric Duncan is now free from the virus and will be leaving the Atlantic Hospital where she has been under going treatment.
 
She will  give a press statement later today announcing her discharge.  Vinson was diagnosed with the virus exactly two weeks ago.

1,356 Federal Directors failed promotion exams

THE Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) has released the 2014 promotion examination conducted for the directorate levels in the Federal Civil Service, with only 1, 917 of the candidates, who sat for the examination coming out successful.
 
Chairman of the commission, Deaconess Joan Ayo, who briefed newsmen in Abuja, on Monday, said a total of 3,273 sat for the examination and that those, who passed had already been promoted.

She said the 1,356 candidates, who failed to make it this time, would have to wait till next year to try their hands on the examination again.


Washington DC High School shooter sent text messages to victims inviting them for lunch

New investigation into the Washington DC Marysville Pilchuck High School shooting stated that the shooter, 15 year old Jaylen Fryberg sent test messages to all victims inviting them for lunch.  It is also confirmed that the .40-caliber handgun used in the shooting had been legally purchased by one of Fryberg's relatives.  It is however, unclear, how Fryberg got hold of the weapon.
 
Explanation to the reason(s) why Fryberg opened fire, killing and injuring his school mates still remains unclear.  He is said to have been from a prominent Tulalip Indian family.

South Korean Captain of capsized ferry to face death penalty

South Korean prosecutors on Monday sought the death penalty for the captain of a ferry that capsized in April, leaving 304 people, most of them school children.
 
Lee Joon-seok, 68, charged with homicide, should be sentenced to death for failing to carry out his duty, which in effect amounted to homicide, the prosecution told the court before resting its case in a trial that has taken place amid intense public anger.  Sentiment turned sharply hostile after evidence surfaced that the mostly teenage passengers waited in their cabins, obediently following orders, as the crew escaped.
 
 
 


Dr. Ameyo Adadevoh to be immortalised by family

The family of the late Consultant Physician and Endocrinologist, Dr. Ameyo Adadevoh has concluded plans to immortalize her.
 
A spokes person for the family, Kwami Adadevoh announced yesterday through his twitter handle that the family has decided to keep her memory alive by establishing a health trust in her name.  He said the initiative will be called ''Dr. Stella Ameyo Adadevoh Health Trust.''

While speaking to the press he said,  “I am excited to run for senate. I have submitted my form to run for Bayelsa East which is the President’s senatorial district. “I am excited about the process and opportunity to serve. The new Senate, if we win, will be different because we will deal with issues that concern the public.
