Remains of a plane which crashed in Chilean mountains carrying a team of footballers, found after 50years

 
It was a national tragedy that stunned the world - and for more than 50 years the exact whereabouts of a plane that crashed in Chile carrying a group of football stars remained a mystery.
Now climbers in the Andes mountain range say they have found the wreckage of the LAN Chile Douglas DC-3 that went down April 3, 1961 with 24 people on board.

FG to conduct fresh recruitment into Nigeria Immigration Service


 
According to the Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Immigration, Chukwuemeke Obuah, the Federal Government has concluded arrangements to conduct fresh recruitment of applicants into the Nigerian Immigration Service.  This is coming after almost a year that a similar exercise ended tragically that saw some of the supposed applications dead and other injured. He also said advertorials have been placed in major newsprints for that purpose.

T.B. Joshua, perhaps Nigeria’s most unconventional cleric, posted a heart-warming story on his official Facebook Page about an elderly lady who came to his church with an unusual gift.

A retired teacher named Caroline Orugude had come to The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) in Lagos, Nigeria to share a curious testimony.
 

After retiring from her job in June, 2012, Caroline was forced to wait almost two years for the gratuity that she was supposed to receive. “There was nothing much we could do except pray because the pension system is so unreliable,” she narrated to the congregation.

Dramatic images capture this hour-long fight as a starving lion take on a fully grown buffalo. 

After the brutal hour-long battle, both animals were left bloodied, exhausted and with fatal wounds.  The images also shows the lion savagely biting and clawing at the buffalo’s mouth, the big cat’s face smeared with blood from where he’s been gored by his heavier and larger opponent’s horns. 

The feline is tossed around in the air as he attempts to mount his adversary and is finally finished off when another buffalo arrives on the scene to deliver a lethal blow.

Boko Haram attacks Niger as country's parliament vote to send troops to Nigeria

Suspected Boko Haram militants attacked a prison in neighbouring Niger late Sunday ahead of a vote by the country’s parliament on whether to send troops into Nigeria to fight the sect.
 
 The attack happened hours before Niger’s parliament was due to vote on joining a regional offensive against the militants. 
 
On Monday, hours after the attack, a bomb exploded in Niger’s bordertown of Diffa, a military and a local source told Reuters news agency.
 
 

Plot to disqualify President Jonathan from up coming election thickens


 According to Premium Times, Justice Ahmed Mohammed of the Federal High Court has ordered that court documents in a fresh suit seeking to disqualify President Goodluck Jonathan from seeking re-election in the March 28 poll should be served on him. 
 
The court said the papers should either be served on the president through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, or the Office of the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation.

Manchester United players in sex tape scandal



Manchester United players are being investigated by club bosses over claims they filmed a woman as she performed a sex act on their teammate in a nightclub toilet cubicle.
 
The video taken of the footballer, who has not been named, and the woman, understood to be in her late 20s, is then said to have been shown to other members of the team.
 
Claims over the sordid sex tape are the latest shame for the footballing community - which has been dogged by scandal following the release of rapist Ched Evans from prison last October. 

FG begins clampdown on erring private jet operators from today


 
In preparations towards the planned grounding of private jet operators who use their aircraft for commercial operations against the rules of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) from today, Monday, the Ministerial Committee on Aeronautical and Non-aeronautical charges in charge of the exercise will, this morning, begin verification of the jet operators. 

It was gathered that the committee, which was headed by Mr Ahonsi Unuigbe, would commence interrogation of the private jet owners today to identify those who were still involved in the illegal hire and reward by the jet owners as against the NCAA rules.

The suspect arrested with a Ghana-made triple barrel gun in Iseyin town, Oyo State, Ajibola Ibrahim (32) a.k.a. Scorpion, has denied the allegation of motorcycle stealing brought against him, saying that he turned a new leaf after his last arrest and was working as a political thug when he was arrested.
 
Crime Reports in January 25, 2015 publication which carried Ajibola’s story, in which he was accused of stealing motorcycles and shooting one of the owners when accosted. The triple barrel gun was said to have been recovered from him. 

Fake Voice of America correspondent napped by the police

The Edo State Police Command has arrested one Yakubu Farouk for posing as the Niger Delta correspondent of the Hausa service of the Voice of America.
 
Farouk, who hails from Nasarawa State, was arrested by officers of the Oba Market Police Division on February 3, after demanding N5,000 from the Chairman of the Hausa community in Edo State, Alhaji Badamasi Saleh, for interview.

Gunmen kidnap ex-governor Joshua Dariye's father

 

Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen have kidnapped Pa Dariye Defwan, the 87-year-old father of a former governor of Plateau State, Chief Joshua Dariye.
A police source said the gunmen, numbering about nine, stormed the home of the octogenarian in the Mushere area of Bokkos, in the Bokkos Local Government Area at about 7.30pm on Saturday.
They were said to have shot sporadically and in the confusion, whisked away their victim on a motorcycle and headed towards Wambia in the neighbouring Nasarawa State.
A family source also said that the kidnappers had demanded $10 million as ransom.
