Jonathan leaves for pilgrimage to Israel

President Goodluck Jonathan will on Friday depart Lagos on a brief pilgrimage to Israel, his office said in a statement on Thursday.
 
The statement issued in Abuja by Dr Reuben Abati, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, said that Jonathan would visit Christian Holy sites during the pilgrimage.
 
According to the statement, he will join other Nigerian pilgrims in a prayer session for the well-being and progress of the country at an Inter-Denominational Service in Jerusalem on Sunday.
 
The president, who will be accompanied by the Chaplain of the Presidential Villa, Venerable Obioma Onwuzurumba and his principal aides, is expected back in Abuja on Monday.  

Mario Balotelli threatened a woman for taking pictures of his Ferrari

Controversial soccer star Mario Balotelli may be willing to give the shirt off his back to his opponents but it seems he is not so charitable when it comes to his beloved car.
 
 
The Liverpool ace was allegedly involved in an argument with a woman after the Italian striker spotted her taking pictures of his red Ferrari F12 Berlinetta.
 
Police were called after Mario reportedly 'threatened' the woman who was snapping away at his motor while it was parked on a Manchester housing estate.
 
 Mario 24, is thought to have travelled to the estate on Pewsey Road, Peel Hall, Wythenshawe, at around 3pm today to visit his mum Rose Barwuah who lives in the area.   He was said to have packed when a nearby resident came out of her house to start taking pictures of the former Manchester City striker’s wheels when it is alleged he began threatening her over the photographs.
The woman reportedly called police to say the Italian and Liverpool striker walked over to her and got ‘threateningly close’ and demanded she stop taking pictures.

Na wah for this guy!  What is the big deal with taking pictures of your car!

Finally Jonathan declares for 2015

President Goodluck Jonathan today in Abuja declared his interest in contesting the 2015 presidential election.
 
He informed his party leaders at the villa, Abuja that he would buy his nomination form before the expiration deadline.
 
He also inaugurated a committee to be headed by the former Minister for Defence Dr. haliru Bello.  And part of the committee's job would be to come up with a programme for his declaration. The declaration will take place between 7-15 November.
 
 

First Lady Patience Jonathan resign as Bayelsa State Permanent Secretary

The First Lady of Nigeria, Dame Patience Jonathan  has resigned her appointment as a permanent secretary in Bayelsa State.
 
It was gathered that her resignation is due to the broken down relationship between the first lady and the governor of Bayelsa State Governor Dickson Seriake.  The source stated that the whole thing is political and that the first lady opted for voluntary retirement so as to be able to slug it out with Dickson who many said has fallen out of favour.
 

Breaking News: Boko Haram strikes again today, abducted 40 girls (new set of girls)

Reports from Adamawa State has it that the Boko Haram sect has abducted another 40 girls.

This new sect of girls are different from the 60 women that were kidnapped during the week.  The insurgents are said to have sacked the council executives of three Local Government Area and are now in control of them.

The former governor of Oyo State Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala and eight others picked expression of interest nomination forms at the PDP national secretariat Abuja.

Others who picked forms are Dr. (Mrs.) Roseline Ada Chenge (Benue), Senator Abdallah Wali (Sokoto), Hon. Bumbari Ben Dimkpa (Rivers), Dr. Eugene Alegba (Benue) Dr. Okezie Ikpazu (Abia) and Dr. (Mrs.) Ndidi Abanum (Delta).


Nigeria Custom Officer in police net for his involvement in the death of his 17-year-old daughter

Police in Meiran area of Ijaiye Ojokoro, Lagos State have arrested and are currently interrogating a custom officer over the death of his 17 year old daughter.
 
The man was said to have beaten his daughter - a medical student of University of Benin to death and hurriedly buried her.
 
He was however arrested, when some landlords on Olajide Byron way reported the incident to the police.


Don't be greedy, help the less privileged - Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor

The president of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor during a sermon at the Baptist Church, Warri to mark Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan's 60th year celebration; came down hard on wealthy Nigerians who have so much wealth but refused to show compassion to the less privileged.

He said it is extremely sad that while some people are so rich and enjoying their wealth, so many are suffering.  He said it is God's will that we render help to one another.  He said, “Sadly, a lot of people are suffering, while a few are enjoying. It is the wish of God that we assist each other, so that there will be no grumbling,” he said.  ''We should thank God for what we expect Him to do for us and what he has done for us. By so doing, we expect Him to do more for us and also conquer our known and unknown enemies,”

 
 

Melissa Rivers inherits over $100m of her mmother's (Joan Rivers) etstates

Melissa Rivers the only child of the Fashion Police presenter Joan Rivers will inherit the bulk of her mothers estates.
 
Melissa will inherit $75 million in cash and Joan's French-inspired $35 million condo on New York's upper East side.
 
Melissa briefly opened up following her mother's passing on Oct. 16 after the New York City Medical Examiner's Officer revealed Joan's cause of death.  She said,  "We continue to be saddened by our tragic loss," she tweeted. "No further comment at this time."
 
They said her receiving her mother's estate is no consolation to Melissa for losing her so early.
 
Joan Rivers died last month from surgery complications.  She was aged 81.

It has been 14 years since Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton first tongued each other on the red carpet.  Yet there is still fascination over their relationship and the blood of vial they  both wore on their necks.

The 59 year old goatee actor explained that it was Angelina Jolie's idea that since they were often apart - she filming Tomb Raiders and him - Monster Ball and do not see each other for months; that it will be interesting and romantic to cut themselves  and put their blood on the lockets and wear around their necks.


Chibok girls update: Opposition stops the Chibok girls rescue - Stephen Davies

Stephen Davies an international acclaimed negotiator in an interview granted a UK news network, Channel 4, has come out to accuse the politicians in the opposition party of hindering the release of the Chibok girls abducted by Boko Haram in April.
 
He told the news network, “The Nigerian op­position politicians sponsor­ing Boko Haram have to be stopped if hundreds of local girls are to be saved.”
 
 

Fighting in Ilaro, Ogun State, one dead and many injured

There was pandemonium which left one dead and many injured yesterday at Ilaro in Yewa South Local Government Area in Ogun State, when two groups of hoodlums clashed.

The incident which happened during the assessment tour of the state governor Ibikunle Amosun saw the hoodlums using all sorts of dangerous weapons.

It was stated that the hoodlums were fighting for territorial protection.  Apart from the one death recorded so many people sustained different degrees of injuries.

The Police Public Relation Officer of the state, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi confirmed the incident and stated 16 people were arrested while weapons seized includes four pump action guns, cutlasses, axes and assorted charms.

Update: Father who abandoned his three children for 8 years gives reasons why

Two days ago, there was a story (also featured on this blog) of a father, Mr. Segun Adepegba who is said to have abandoned his three children (Seun 14, Titilola 13 and Seyi 10) in a boarding school since the last eight years.
 
While narrating his own side of the story to Punch, Mr. Adepegba said hardship pushed him to abandoned the children.
 
He said, ''In 2007, my wife and I had a misunderstanding and she told me she was leaving me. I was frustrated and the children were little. Seyi, the youngest was just two years while Titilola was just five.  “There was no way I could give them motherly care. I had no job. As a man, I needed someone to help me take care of them and that was why my sister suggested that we enrol them in a boarding school.”
