Monaco goes mad for its royal babies born to Prince Albert and Princess Charlene (see photos)

Prince Albert II of Monaco paid a visit to the hospital to visit his wife Princess Charlene and the new twins, Prince Jacques Honore Ranier and Princess Gabrielle Theresa Marie.

The babies were born at the Princess Grace Hospital in Monaco through Caesarean section.

Princess Gabrielle was the first to be born.  But her younger brother, Prince Jacques Honore Ranier will inherit the throne despite being the last to be born.

Each of the twins received 21 (total of 42) cannon shots after the official announcement of their birth.

It was an extreme terrifying moment when the teenager, Samuel Barlow aimed his weapon at armed police officers.  He was moments from being shot at as he roamed around Shetland Mainland brandishing his rifle at frightened residents.
 
The court was told it was only the professionalism and courage of police officers - who initially had not idea of the type of gun Barlow was wielding.
 
 
 
 

Al Jazeera journalist dies in Syria

Al Jazeera has reported that it has lost one of its reporter in a crash while covering battles in Syria.


The journalist, Mahran Al Deeri was killed on Wednesday in Al Sheikh Maskin in rural Daraa when his vehicle collided with a rebel vehicle while taking cover from government fire.
 

Mostefa Souag, Al Jazeera's acting Director General, said in a statement on Al Jazeera's website: "Our martyred colleague Mahran Al Deeri has worked with aljazeera.net for over a year and was known for his courage, bravery and professional coverage of the Syrian revolution in the area of Daraa and its suburbs.
 

26 Nigerians deported from Sudan over suspicion of the Ebola virus

26 Nigerians were denied entry into Sudan and deported back to Nigeria over suspicion that they were possibly infected with the Ebola virus.
 
Hauwa’u Ibrahim Bakori, a second year student of Pharmacy at the Al Ahfad University, Omdurman who was also part of those repatriated stated that she and 25 others were denied entry after arriving Khartoum Airport yesterday. They were detained, and then deported back to Nigeria today.

 


The two little boys who were kidnapped by their nanny have been found

The two young boys, Rafael and Michael who were kidnaped from their home in Isheri Magodo Estate on Sunday by their nanny have been found. They were found today in Shagamu and have been handed over safely to their parents.





An accident which occured today at the Lagos/Benin Bypass claimed 11 lives

An accident which occurred today at the Lagos Bypass around Oluku in Benin, Edo State claimed no fewer than 11 lives.  The victims who were traveling in a Liberal Motor commercial bus where traveling to Warri.  11 out of 15 passengers that were in the bus lost their lives.
 
It was gathered that the driver of the bus, who was among the survivors, tried to reverse the vehicle after hearing a gunshot when a truck rammed into the vehicle killing 11 of the passengers.
 
 
 

Man to die by hanging over Osogbo bombing

Richard Adesanmi was today sentenced to death by Justice Adeyinka Adetibigbe of the Osun State High Court, for detonating an improvised explosive device at the Osun State Government Secretariat in 2007 which led to the death of one person.
 
The convict was found guilty of all six counts including, unlawful purpose, attempt to injure with explosives, preparation to commit with explosives, act intended to cause grievous harm and lastly murder.
 

 

Two bomb blasts rocks Jos

News coming out of Jos states that a double bomb blast has just rocked the city.

The blast occurred at the Mr. Biggs roundabout on Ahmadu Bello Way.  Casualty figure is yet to be ascertained.

Nigerian troops shut communities in Adamawa State, conducts house-to-house search for Boko Haram insurgents

The troops of the Nigerian Army are carrying out a major operation to flush out remnants of Boko Haram insurgents in Michika and some neighboring communities in Adamawa State.

Investigation revealed that the soldiers have restricted movement from Hong to Michika to prevent the insurgents from fleeing the area.

The source said that some of the insurgents believed to be from the Michika area launched an attack on a military checkpoint in the town but were repelled by the vigilant soldiers.
 
 
 

Ebola Update: Trial testing of Ebola vaccine suspended due to recorded side effects

Swiss researchers have suspended the testing of one of the leading Ebola vaccine after some volunteers reported unexpected side effects.
 
In a statement issued today, the Hopitaux Universitaires de Geneve said the trial had been suspended "as a precautionary measure."
 
The study which involved 59 people began in November. 
 

French military jet crashed into an old peoples home, kills one

A 63-year-old woman was killed and five others injured when a French military jet crashed into a care home and turned it a fireball in the town of Vouvray, near Tours in France.
 
Two pilots that were in the jet ejected and parachuted to safety after flying into a dark area which appeared to be uninhabited, said Air force Commander Cyril Duvivier.
 
The two pilots (one said to be a student) are uninjured, but still have been taken to the hospital for a routine check-up.
 


 

Suicide bomber attack an audotorium packed with people watching a drama condemning suicide attacks

A teenaged bomber today targeted a Kabul auditorium packed with people watching a drama condemning suicide attacks that was being staged at a French cultural center.  The blast killed at least one person and injured not less than 16 people.

The suicide blast was the second to strike the Afghan capital in a day.  Earlier today, six Afghan soldiers perished when their bus was hit on the outskirts of the city.
 

Atiku concedes defeat, congratulate Buhari

All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential aspirant, Atiku Abubakar has congratulated his fellow aspirant, General Muhammadu Buhari for winning the party's primary which was held in Lagos.
 
The former Vice President got 954 votes while General Muhammadu Buhari got 3,430 votes.
 
Atiku took to his social media platform, twitter to congratulate the retired General saying, '' Congratulations General Buhari, the delegates have spoken.  You truly deserve the victory.''


Police uncover bomb in Kano food market

Barely 24 hours after Kano Textile market was bombed by two female suicide bombers , the police in Kano have uncovered and detonated a high calibre Improvised Explosive Device at Dawnau, a popular food market in the ancient town.

Eyewitness said the bomb was concealed in a sack that was hidden at the busy market. 

The Kano police commissioner, Adelenre Shinaba confirmed the incident,  adding that “we have successfully detonated the bomb and I can assure you that we have restored normalcy to the market.”

Inspector General of Police orders full investigation into the assault of a couple by a police officer

The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Suleiman Abba has directed full investigation into the alleged assault of a couple by a police officer.
The couple Mr. Smith Ejeh and his wife Grace Ejeh whose story broke yesterday were said to have been assaulted at the Lekki roundabout  Lagos by police officer, Dada Ogunsanya.
The order is contained in a statement issued by Mr. Emmanuel Ojukwu, Acting Commissioner of Police and Force Public Relations Officer, in Abuja today.
 

Muhammadu Buhari to fly APC flag in 2015 Presidential election, wins primary with 3430 votes

General Muhammedu Buhari has recorded 3, 430 votes at the on going All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential Primaries in Lagos, thus emerging as the winner of the APC primaries.  Atiku scored 954 votes, Rabiu Kwakwanso 974 while that of Rochas Okorocha and Sam Nda Isiah is still being counted. 




He will contest against Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, at the February Presidential election.

A total of 7, 214 delegates voted.

Five suspects in police station for raping a 14-year-old girl

Five suspects, Olaoluwa Gbenga, 20, Dada Samson, 18, Saliu Kazeem, 19, Olaoluwa Lekan, 20 and Aribaloye Lekan are currently in the police station accused of raping a 14-year-old girl at Ikole-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

The Police Public Relation Officer, Victor Babayemi said the rape took place at about 2pm on November 20.

“Investigation revealed that the suspects lured the victim to the house of one of them, Dada Samson, where they took their turn to defile her.
 

2015: President Jonathan is PDP Presidential flag bearer, picks Vice President Namadi Sambo as running mate

President Jonathan was early this morning formally ratified as the presidential flag bearer of the PDP for the 2015 presidential elections by the party at the Eagles Square , Abuja
 

In his acceptance speech, he told delegates and other party faithfuls that his already tested and loyal Vic President, Namadi Sambo will be his running mate in the presidential elections.
