Finally Speaker Tambuwal picks Sokoto governorship forms

The speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, has obtained nomination forms to contest as governor of Sokoto State.  The speaker will contest on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
 
The Speaker picked his nomination form in his home state, Sokoto today, three days after he dropped his ambition to run for the office of the president.
 
 

Kim in Dubai in an all girls trip with friends

Kim had jetted to Dubai with her friends including Michelle Rodrigues, make up artist Joyce Bonelli and Carla DiBello.

As usual she showed off her famous curves in a sheer patterned  kaftan.

I am very sure this was an all girls trip.  No sign of hussy Kanye and baby Nori.   The reality star was in Australia recently to launched her latest perfume Fleur Fatale.

Roselyn Sanchez, 41, caused quite a sensation as she took the stage at the Latin Grammy Awards yesterday.

She stole the show when she appeared in a revealing sheer gown that left little to the imagination.

The material girl is one of the latest people to take on K's naked pictures which were featured in the Paper magazine.
 
The 56-year-old singer posted an old image of herself from the nineties where she was topless but her chest was covered with a black bar.
 
The Pop Queen said, '' Its confusing.  Nipples are considered forbidden and provocative but exposing  your ass is not.''  In the past, Madonna have come under criticism for showing off her chest in magazines and on runways.  But she has been very quiet of recent.

 
 
 
 

Ghana: 7 dead and 33 others trapped in an illegal gold mine pit (Picture very graphic)

About 40 people who were involve in illegal mining of gold were today trapped in the pit they were mining in.

Seven of the illegal miners were pulled out but all died shortly after.  33 others are still trapped inside the pit.

The illegal miners ere said to have been mining gold in a site at Tiagbani, Telensi-Nabdam district of the Upper East Volta Region of Ghana.

Rescue work was still on going to try and remove them from the pit.


President Scott of Zambia suspended as party leader

Zambia ruling Patriotic Front Party today suspended the its acting president Guy Scott as acting head of the party citing unconstitutional conduct and for abrogating the party's constitution.
 
The party is divided over the contest to replace Scott with supporters of Edgar Lungu.  Scott want the party's candidate to be pick by the 53-member committee and also a vote by a general conference made up of thousands of delegates.  He was due to meet with the central committee tomorrow to decide on the selection process.
 
 

My regret is not winning the African Footballer of the Year as a player - Jay Jay Okocha

In an interview with Encomium Nigeria, Jay Jay Okocha opened up on some of the regrets he had as a player.  He said he is particularly pained at not winning the African Footballer of the year.  See part of the interview below:

 
When asked about any regret as a footballer, legendary footballer Austin 'Jay Jay' Okocha said;  "If I have any regret that would be not winning The African Footballer of the Year. But then, I don't think I was meant to because I gave my best, but at the end, it wasn't good enough. However, I had a fantastic playing career"  




Another military helicopter crashes in Yola

Another helicopter belonging to the Nigerian Airforce has crashed in the Damare neighbourhood of the Federal University of Technology in Yola, Adamawa State.

This will make it the third crash of military helicopter in Yola.

Dangote loses N935 billion in two days, now 38 on Forbes list

Dangote was the pride of Africa when he climbed into the 23rd position on Forbes list.  But just 24 hours later he plummeted to 38th position due to lose of $5billion.    He moved from 43rd position to 23rd, 37th and finally now occupies 38th position.

His net worth of $20billion climbed to $25billion, dropped to $21.3billion and is now $19.5 billion.   He is said to have lost chunk of his fortunes on the stock market shedding about N20 per share on Dangote cement in just two days.

On Wednesday November 5, it was N208.85 per share but by Tuesday November 7, it was N188.33 per share.  By Monday November 10, 2014, Dangote cement had lost further N9.42 finally settling at N179.11 per share.


Will ousted Burkina Faso president seek asyum in Morrocco?

Moroccan state media says former Burkina Faso President Blaise Compaore has arrived in Casablanca from Ivory Coast, where he initially sought refuge after demonstrations brought down his government last month.


The report said Compaore, who held power for 27 years, arrived in Morocco last night with five other people.  Compaore has not yet settled on a long-term plan, the report said he would be in the country for a "fixed" term. No other details were given.
 
 

Local Government Chairman abducted in Osun State, Abductors demand N50million ransom

The abductors of the head of Atakumosa West Local Government Council, Osun State, Mr. Kunle Falode are asking for N50million ransom for his release.

Falode was kidnapped as he was about to enter his residence on Wednesday at about 7.30pm.  The kidnappers were said to have allowed him to speak to members of his family while threatening to kill him if the family fail to raise the ransom money.

His wife and other family members are said to be very troubled.

The billionaire who left behind six children and eight grand children will see each of the children inheriting a palace each and  thousands of acres of land in Spain.

The 88-year-old raised eyebrows and caused family friction in 2011 when she married Alfonzo Diez, who was 25 years her junior.


'Man's greed will destroy the world - Pope Francis

Pope Francis has sent out a stern warning saying the world is risking a doomsday scenario if the world would not stop abusing its resources for profit. He made the above statement at the 2nd International Conference on Nutrition this morning in Rome. 
 
The Pontiff urged world leaders to put aside their greed and help the poor and hungry.  He said, ''God always forgive, but the earth does not.'' 'Take care of the earth, so that it does not respond with destruction.''
 
 

Former Governor of Taraba State reinstated by the Supreme Court

The Supreme court has ordered the immediate reinstatement of the Deputy Governor of Taraba State, Alhaji Sanni Abubakar Danladi who was impeached by the Taraba State House of Assembly in October 2012.
 
The Supreme court in an unanimous decision stated that the impeachment panel set up by the House of Assembly violated the right to fair hearing of Danladi.
 
 
 

Another Muslim Brotherhood Leader arrested in Eqypt

The last remaining senior leader of the Muslim Brotherhood who was not in prison was arrested yesterday by the Egyptian police, closing off the government’s main channel of communication with the group.
 
The leader, Mohamed Ali Bishr, is considered a moderate within the Brotherhood, Egypt's main Islamist organization and the sponsor of the political party that won the most votes in Egypt’s free elections. President Mohamed Morsi, who won office with Brotherhood backing, was ousted when the military retook power in 2013.
 
 

Ebola death toll in Sierra Leone still on the increase

The WHO has come out to say transmission of the deadly virus is still “intense and widespread” in Sierra Leone.  There was an added number of 243 deaths and 732 cases since those issued last Friday, and cases continue to be under-reported said WHO.  Sierra Leone, a former British colony, confirmed 533 new cases from November 10th to 16th. 
 
There is growing awareness on the need to conduct safe burials for suspected Ebola victims in Sierra Leone.  The Ebola virus is highly infectious and remains active in the corpses of victims, only specialized teams in protective clothing are allowed to remove and dispose of the bodies.  Each team has 12 workers and every member of a team earns about $100 a week.
 


Emmanuel Adebayor of Tottenham Hotspur accuse his mother of being a witch

Emmanuel Adebayor who plays for Tottenham Hotspur is currently at loggerheads with his family accusing his mother of being a witch and that she and other relatives were doing rituals against him.
 
According to Margaret, Adebayor's cousin, for the past 6 years Adebayor has rejected his mother and immediate family on the premise that our mother is a witch.  ''We have been thinking about his future as a footballer and did not want this issue out in the public.''  Could you believe Adebayor orders his men to sack our mother, his own mother from a house he built in Togo claiming she is a witch?  As I speak, our mother lives in an apartment rented by our junior brother Kola Adebayor who lives in Germany.''  ''My mother weeps over this issue every day.  Anytime our mother or any of his relatives calls and he realises, he will quickly cut off the call.''


120 APC Lawmakers sign notice to impeach President Jonathan

More than 120 APC lawmakers have signed an impeachment notice to remove President Jonathan in December as soon as the house reconvenes, as a result of the fracas which took place at the National Assembly on Thursday.


Another town in Borno attacked by insurgents, 45 deaths recorded

The town of Azaya Kura in the Mafa area of Borno was yesterday attacked by Islamic extremists Boko Haram leaving 45 people dead and many others injured.
 
The Chairman of Mafa Local Government Area called the attack ''wicked and despicable.'' ''We have counted 45 bodies so far.''
 
Residents of the town said many others may have died from loss of blood after fleeing into the bushes with bullet wounds.
 
Mafa and its surrounding towns/villages have come under countless attacks from the insurgents in the past.  On October 26, the insurgents abducted 30 boys and girls, as young as 11 and 13 years.  March 2014, 29 people were killed by the extremists.
