Eight-month-pregnant teenager killed by brothers in Indian in an honour killing

The body of 19-year-old girl said to have been eight month pregnant at the time of her death was discovered in the Grages river in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh - 34km northwest of capital New Delhi.
 
The teenager was said to have been strangled by her two brothers in an honour killing for having an affair with a man from the same village.  The two suspects and another of their accomplice have been declared wanted by the police.


21-year-old Bhavna Yadav murdered for marrying her friend

she was a third year student of Delhi University

Recently, activists have called on Indian government to review the law into honour killing after the death of 21-year-old student, Bhavna Yadav.  The third year Delhi University student was murdered by her parents for marrying her friend against their wish.
 
For now, there is no law against honour killing in India.  Shamina Shafiq said, ''There is no honour in these killings, these are horror killings.''
