28 year old man found guilty for stealing a large pot of soup

A 28 year old man, Abiodun Ojedokun has been sentenced to six days of community service for stealing a large pot of soup.
 
Mrs, Bola Osunsanmi of Somolu Magistrate Court in Lagos today sentenced him to 48 hours of community service for each counts after Abiodun pleaded guilty to the three counts of conspiracy, burglary and stealing.  Mrs. Osunsanmi said, “Based on the facts of this case before this court, the confirmed report and your plea of leniency, I hereby sentence you to 48 hours community service on each of the counts,''.
 
 

The prosecutor, ASP Akinlabi Adegoke, told the court that the convict, who was a casual worker and whose address was unknown, committed the offences on Sept. 20 at 2:00 a.m. at the Onipanu Model Market in Somolu, Lagos State.  He told the court that the accused connived with other who are at large, broke into the shop of one Mrs. Gbadomosi Sanni at about 2.00am and stole her large pot of soup which was valued at N8,000.

The prosecutor told the court that the offences contravened Sections 285, 308 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

Ojedokun pleaded guilty to the charges, asked for leniency, claiming that he committed the offence because he was starving.
