According to the Health Ministry France, an employee of the United Nations who was working in Sierra Leone and contracted Ebola has been securely evacuated from Sierra Leone and is currently undergoing treatment in France.
The UN employee whose name was not given has been placed in isolation under high security in an army training hospital in Saint Made near Paris. A French nurse who also contracted Ebola while working for Doctors without Borders in Liberia was successfully treated in this same hospital.
Despite several suspected cases of Ebola recorded in France, none has tested positive to the virus.
According to the UN records the Ebola epidemic has killed more than 4,922 people out of 13,703 cases reported as at October 2014. Countries mostly affected are Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone. Few cases and deaths was reported in Nigeria, Senegal had one reported case and no death. The United States also recorded several cases and one death.
