Oregon's Kate Brown to become first openly bisexual governor

After an influence-peddling scandal prompted former Oregon governor John Kitzhaber resignation on Friday, Kate Brown, Oregon's current secretary of state, will become the state's next governor.
On Wednesday, she'll be sworn in as the nation's first openly bisexual governor—and second LGBT person to hold the office after New Jersey's Jim McGreevey (who came out after stepping down amid scandal in 2004).

According to insiders, Brown has had her sight set on a gubernatorial run for years and was one of the favorites for the Democratic nomination in 2018. She is currently a resident of Portland and came out as bisexual in the 1990s. She has been married to her husband, Dan Little, for 15 years.
