The couple, who married in September, had spent the evening enjoying a double date with friends and Amal looked stunning as always as they made their way home.

Germanwings removes poorly timed adverts which promise a surprise


The Germanwings airline has pulled ads bearing the unfortunate slogan, “Get ready to be surprised,” from London’s subway system after Tuesday’s deadly crash in the French Alps.

The advert posters feature an image of a flight attendant giving a come-hither look.

“Enjoy the variety of Germany and fly to e.g. Berlin or Hamburg,” read the ads, which appeared on trains and platforms in the London Underground.

First US penny sold for $1.2 million


The first US penny is 233 years old and was sold for nearly $1.2 million Thursday night at an auction in Baltimore.
 
The coin, known as the "Birch Cent," was made in 1792, months after the one-cent denomination was first authorized by Congress, according to the auction house Stack's Bowers Galleries.

INEC orders manual accreditation, extends exercise until sunday

 
Here is  a statement from the Independent National Electoral Commission.
INEC has been monitoring field reports on the accreditation process since commencement this morning. Whereas the process has gone well in several places, in some others it has encountered some challenges especially the card readers.
Consequently, accreditation has been slow in many places and has not commenced at all in some others .

Even though the guidelines for the 2015 general elections provide that where card readers fail to work and cannot be replaced, elections in such PUs will be postponed to the next day.

Germanwings killer co-pilot Andreas Lubitz was suffering from severe ''psychosomatic illness''


According to the German newspaper, Welt, police found evidence at the flat of killer co-pilot Andreas Lubitz which suggests he was suffering from ‘’severe burnout syndrome – a serious psychosomatic disease.
'Severe burnout syndrome' is a state of emotional, mental and physical ‎exhaustion and is often linked to those in jobs with high stress levels.

Update: INEC website hacked by ''Nigeria Cyber Army''

 
 
according to an update INEC website which was hacked into my Nigeria Cyper Army has been reactivated.  Its Chief Press Secretary, Kayode Idowu says there is no cause for panic as the situation ha been brought under control.

INEC staff scamper for safety as explosion rocks polling unit in Enugu State

 
An explosion has occurred at WTC School 1,polling unit at about 7.38AM which left voters and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, scampering for safety.
 
Two others were detonated at about 8.56AM at the same premises by the operatives of the Anti-Bomb Squad of the Enugu Police command.  
 
According to an eyewitness, the bombs were laden in a Honda car which was parked beside the entrance gate of the school.

Man arrested for using monkey, snakes for robbery

The police in Lagos State have arrested a 27-year-old robbery suspect, Mohammed Nafiu, who specialised in using monkeys and snakes to dispossess people of their money and valuables.
 
One of the monkeys was also arrested and is presently in police custody.
 
Nafiu told the police that apart from the conventional tool (gun) used by most robbers, the sight of a snake or monkey unsettles and scares people. He said he was able to dispossess his victims of their valuables when confronted with these animals, especially fully grown ones.
 
The Kano State-born Nafiu, and his accomplice, Nura, who is still at large, said they initiated this method of robbery operation some years ago.
 
“We trained the animals to obey our instructions. On a single command, the animals attack whoever we want to rob and we are able to take whatever valuable they have on them, especially money,” Nafiu said.

Terry G, one of Nigeria popular but controversial artistes while chatting with Saturday beats said he once indulged in hard substance.  He said, it was never really his intention to get into drugs.
He also revealed that he was introduced into taking the substance by an actress.
 
“People actually see me as a very bad guy, so it does not surprise me when I go to certain places and they offer me some things because they think I already indulge in them. It was a gathering of celebrities and they say when you are in Rome act like a Roman. I was offered and I did not want to be seen as the odd one out, so I indulged in it with them,” he said.
 
Talking about the substance, Terry G said it was cocaine but he found out that it didn’t “work” for him even after he used it, so he decided to quit.

Liberia's last Ebola patient dies from the virus, might have contacted the virus through sex

 
A woman who was Liberia's sole remaining known Ebola patient has died at a treatment centre in the capital, said Francis Ketteh, acting head of the country's Ebola response team.
 
The case was Liberia's first in weeks and it set back efforts to halt a virus that has killed more than 10,000 people in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone.
 
Authorities say the woman, who died in Monrovia on Friday, may have contracted Ebola through sex with a survivor.

Germanwings plane crash: Investigators reveal they have received body parts but not a single intact body

 
Investigators at the Germanwings crash site revealed they have retrieved more than 400 body parts belonging to the disaster's 150 victims - but have not found an intact body.
Police have now asked friends and families of the deceased to provide DNA samples as they start the grim task of identifying those who died in the crash.

Abdul Adewale Kekere-Ekun wanted in the UK for murder has been extradited

 
Abdul Adewale Kekere-Ekun, the Nigerian whose extradition was sanctioned by a Federal High Court, Abuja on March 9, 2015, is on his way to the United Kingdom.
 
Kekere- Ekun left Abuja, Nigeria in the early hours of Tuesday March 24, 2015 enroute to London, where he is to be prosecuted for murder related offences.

Germanwings flight 9525 passenger plane with 148 passengers and 6 crew members crashes in Southern France


An Airbus A320 plane operated by Lufthansa Germanwings with 142 passengers and six crewmembers has crashed in Digne region, southern France.   The jet,  a low-cost airline, was flying from Barcelona to Düsseldorf.
 
The plane crash in the French Alps was confirmed by General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

Man went for a kidney operation and ended up having his p**nis amputated

 
A former soldier is suing a hospital after he went in for a kidney operation and ended up having his penis amputated.
 
Devastated Costica Maroleanu, 55, had gone to the County Hospital in the town of Buzau in eastern Romania suffering from kidney failure.
 
He said: "After the operation they told me there were some complications.
 
"Apparently the nurse had not properly fitted a small plastic pipe to help me urinate, and my penis became red and infected.
 

Update on STV staff, Aishat Nobel-Mustapha who was stabbed to death


 The case of Aishat Noble- Mustapha, a staff of STV, who was stabbed to death close to her home at Ogudu on 14th March 2015 is expectedly still undergoing investigation.
 
According to another staff of STV who is currently following up the case, he told Encomium magazine that David Ubabudike, who incidentally is one of her neighbours, cooked up the story that her boyfriend murdered her.
 
He said, "Aishat's killers have not been established but the police have made a few arrests. Initially they arrested one Chima Shadrack Mmuta, the prime suspect. In all, they have arrested four of her neighbours including the said Chima and one Mr Ogundimu who happen to be within the premises when the incident occurred.
 

Dad arrested for repeatedly blowing cannabis smoke into his baby's mouth

Christopher Robert Kling, 22, was arrested after cops were shown footage of him allegedly exhaling the fumes into the youngster's mouth.
Officers arrived at the home of Kling’s estranged wife in Beaverton, Oregan, at around 11pm on Sunday, policeman Mike Rowe told the Daily News.
Police say they were called in response to reports of a domestic disturbance and intervened to calm down a verbal altercation between the pair.

Angelina Jolie has now entered menopause, as she removed her ovaries and also under went a double mastectomy


Two years after Angelina Jolie had a double mastectomy to prevent the onset of breast cancer, the actress has revealed that she has since had her ovaries removed due to a second health scare. 

The 39-year-old Maleficent star published a lengthy opinion piece, titled Angelina Jolie Pitt: Diary Of A Surgery in the New York Times on Monday explaining her decision.

With her ovaries and Fallopian tubes now gone, the mother-of-six has entered early menopause and will not be able to have any more children, she writes in her candid, deeply personal essay.

I was hypnotized, lady who killed her lover over N200

 
Gift Wahab, the 20-year-old lady, who allegedly stabbed her boyfriend to death in Ajegunle area of Lagos last Thursday, said she was hypnotized by a force she could not resist.
 
The suspect, who said she was yet to come to terms with the reality of her boyfriend’s death, said the argument that resulted in the fight, which led to her boyfriend’s death, was over N200.
 
She said: “He usually gave me N200 as feeding money. On that day, as we were returning from where we went to drink, I became hungry and complained to him. “He got angry and asked why I should complain of hunger after he had spent the only money he had on drinks.

Hong Kong man Henry Chau, who dismembered and cooked his parents, jailed for life


The conviction of Henry Chau, 31, on Friday concluded a gruesome case that shocked the city in 2013 when the severed heads of Chau's elderly parents were found stuffed into two refrigerators.
During the 20-day trial at the city's high court, the jury heard how Chau had dismembered his elderly parents before salting, cooking and packing their body parts into lunchboxes "like barbecued pork".
"Your sentence on Count 1 and Count 2 is that you go to prison for life," judge Michael Stuart-Moore told Chau, referring to the double murder charges.

Woman stabs lover to death over feeding allowance

Tragedy struck in the Ajegunle, Apapa area of Lagos State, after a 20-year-old woman, Gift Wahab, stabbed her lover, Ebi Amade, 28, to death.
The incident occurred at the couple’s residence on Fasasi Street, Ajegunle, Apapa, on Thursday, March 19.
It was gathered that the suspect, Wahab, who hailed from Uromi, Edo State, had been living with Ebi since 2013, after she dropped out of secondary school. Ebi hailed from Bayelsa State.
The two reportedly had a kid in 2014, who died in December after a brief sickness.
It was learnt that the couple had gone on an outing on Thursday when an argument ensued in the afternoon over feeding money.
Wahab, a hairdresser, was said to have stabbed the 28-year-old to death after they got home.
Policemen from the Layeni division were alerted by neighbours and she was subsequently arrested.

25-year-old man allegedly beheads a father of seven

 
Iyin-Ekiti, a sleepy community in Ekiti State was on Friday, March 20 thrown into pandemonium as a 25-year-old resident of the commu­nity, Wale Ede, allegedly beheaded a 50-year-old man, Mr. Joshua Olaseinde Fagbola, a father of seven.
 
The suspect is currently being held at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Ekiti State Police Command Headquarters, Ado-Ekiti pending the conclusion of investigation by the police.
 
The deceased was, until his death, a patrol assistant with the Directorate of Road Traffic Service in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State. The incident happened at about 8pm in Iro Quarters, Iyin-Ekiti.

Customs officials at Lebanon airport seize half a ton of radioactive fenale sanitary pads



A half ton shipment of radioactive sanitary products has been discovered by customs officials at a Lebanon airport.
Around 30 crates of feminine hygiene products were seized Friday at Rafik Hariri International Airport in Beirut after electronic scanners detected radioactivity in the shipment.
Tests revealed the shipment, which weighed 554 kilograms, had more than 35 times the safe levels of radioactivity.
The sanitary pads had originated in China, and arrived at the airport Friday from Dubai, officials said.

Unknown gunmen abduct Emir of Bukuyum in Zamfara State

 
Unknown gunmen have kidnapped the Emir of Bukuyum, Mohammed Usman from his palace in Zamfara State.
 
The commissioner for information in the state, Ibrahim Magaji, confirmed the Emir’s abduction on Saturday.  Mr Magaji said the incident took place on Friday.
 
A spokesman of the State Police Command, Sunusi Amiru, also said the police’s rescue team was currently working to locate his whereabouts.

ISIS urges sympathizers in the United States to kill US military personnels

 
In a new online threat to American military personnel, the Islamic State has called on its members and sympathizers in the United States to kill 100 service members whose names, photos and purported addresses it posted on a website.
The group said that the personnel had participated in efforts to defeat it in Syria, Iraq, Yemen and elsewhere.
“With the huge amount of data we have from various different servers and databases, we have decided to leak 100 addresses so that our brothers in America can deal with you,” the Islamic State’s so-called Hacking Division said in the web posting.
