Mrs.
Eunice Uzor Kalu, the mother of former governor of Abia State, Dr. Uzor Kalu, is
said to have decamped to APC with her followers. Others also said to have decamped are former
member House of Representative, Hon. Nnanna Uzor Kalu, and ex-Chief of Staff to
Gov. Theodore Orji, Mr. Mascot Uzor Kalu.
The
defection took place when the President-Elect,
Muhammadu Buhari paid a visit to Imo State to thank them for voting for him.
In
his speech, Buhari who gave assurance that APC will experience credible pools
in South East better than what happened in the presidential election, asked the
people to come out and vote for Governor Rochas Okorocha and all other APC
House of Assembly candidates in Saturday election.
Governor
Rochas Okorocha on his part described Buhari as a stabiliser who is coming in
at a critical time of the nation, while urging him to carry everybody along. He
reminded the President-elect of the trauma the Igbo are going through in the
North.
“Let me now remind you that you are the President of the country and not of APC alone; so we urge you to carry everybody along. Today, we shall have a new Nigeria. Buhari Okechukwu is a President of a new Nigeria. Igbo are going through pains in the North and we hope that you will help us,” Okorocha said.
