The PDP members from the South East at a crucial meeting
they had at the residence of the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike
Ekweremadu in Enugu have all resolved to remain in the opposition party, PDP.
The group spokesperson, Col. Augustine Akobunde, who is also the National Vice Chairman of PDP
South East, while addressing the press shortly after the meeting said they were
resolute in remaining in the party and that they are not contemplating moving
to either the APC or any other party.
He said, ‘’Everything that we need to do to deliver
the goodies that our people deserve in the Zone, we can bring though a very
solid platform of negotiation.’’
We voted for a party that integrated us into the
mainstream of Nigerian politics, elected/appointed our people into strategic offices,
and addressed some of our major infrastructural challenges. We took a principled position and accept full
responsibility for our political choices.’’
