Man in court for trying to lodge fake $38,000 into a UBA account

A 25-year-old man, Dare Samuel, has been arraigned by the police in a Yaba Magistrate’s Court, Lagos State, for trying to save a fake sum of $38,000 (about N7m) in a bank.

 

It was learnt that the suspect was arrested on November 26, at a branch of the United Bank for Africa Plc in Ikeja, the state capital, when he wanted to deposit the sum.

 

Source gathered that a banker, who was attending to the suspect, raised the alarm after confirming the notes to be fake.

Bruce Jenner attends ex-wife's Kris Jenner's Christmas Eve party

Despite their divorce, Bruce and his ex-wife Kris seem to still be on very good terms.

 

The 65-year-old Bruce on Thursday made an appearance at the Christmas Eve bash organised by his ex-wife Kris in her Hidden Hills California house.   Kim (34), Khloe (30), Kendall (19) and Kylie (17) were all guests at the bash.

 

The former Olympian was seen smiling for the cameras and seemed to be in a good mood.  He had his hair slicked back and did not have any make-up on.

 

Kim and her husband  Kanye also attended the party, though they were said to have kept a very low profile.

Mel B's daughter Phoenix have spoken out in defence of her stepfather Stephen Belafonte, saying through her twitter handle that everyone should chill, that Stephen never hit her mother and that she doesn't know how that stupid rumour came to be.

 

The 15-year-old made the above statement in response to criticisms that a photo of herself and Stephen which he posted on instagram, of them doing their last minutes shopping on Christmas Eve.

 

 

Man charged before a Lagos court for stabbing his co-tenant over bathroom usage

A 48-year-old businessman, Kassim Raheem, who allegedly stabbed a co-tenant for trying to outsmart him by dashing into their residence’s only bathroom, appeared before the court on Friday in Lagos.

 

Raheem, who resides at Mafoluku, Oshodi, Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of breach of peace and assault before an Oshodi Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

 

Couple tortured daughter to death, hid corpse for three years so as to be claiming child benefits

A mum and stepdad who tortured their daughter to death and hid her corpse for three years so they could continue to claim child benefit have been jailed for 31 years.

 

The heartless pair stashed the dead five-year-old in a locked room in their rented apartment so they could rake in the extra cash from the government and were only found out when they were being evicted and bailiffs discovered the tiny mummified body.

 

A court heard that Juraj Hrotak, 34, regularly beat and starved his partner, Alexandra Hrotakova, and her daughter, Lucka, and it is believed she eventually died from the abuse in around 2009.

Container fell on a car carrying a family of five

A container yesterday, December 19th, fell on this vehicle that was conveying a family of five.  The pictures were uploaded by a twitter user who was present at the scene of the accident.  Luckily,  all five occupants of the car survived!

Cambodia HIV mass infection: At least 90 villagers tested positive to the virus

At least 90 villagers in a small community in Cambodia have been diagnosed with the HIV virus in a mass-infection.

 

Dr Didier Fontenille, Director of the Pasteur Institute in Cambodia, said samples taken from people living in the Roka commune in Battambang province tested positive this week.  He said three different techniques were used in the testing and each test was positive.

 

"It has been confirmed three times by different techniques. Around 90 have tested positive," he told journalist.  he said the next step will be to determine when the people got infected.

 

 

Lagos State Civil Servants to get 15% bonus with their December salary

In a statement by the State Head of Service, Mrs Oluseyi Williams, the Lagos State government will be paying its workers an extra 15% bonus with their December salary.

 

In a statement, Mrs. Oluseyi Williams said, "Some states are owing their workers up to four months’ salary but that is not the case in Lagos. I was discussing with some HOS and they told me they are looking for money to pay their workers’ salaries. Our workers will receive their December salary any moment from now and I am happy to say it that it will come with 15 per cent bonus. Government appreciates your service to the state and urges you to continue to put in your best. Wherever you get your daily meal, it is good to put in your best; your reward is on earth.”

The unemployed mother form Chatham, Kent, who spent a life time on social benefits fled to Syria with her ten-year-old son to marry her toyboy boyfriend, Hussain.

Sally, now called Sekinah Hussain, was a former lead guitarist in an all-girl punk band.

She tells teenage girls that ISIS militants are offering to pay travel expenses for teenagers looking to become jihadi brides.  She told an online fictional profile that women were not allowed to have a career.  That their duty is to take care of their men.

ISIS released photos of a man in Syria who had his hand cut off after an Islamic court found him guilty of stealing.

 

They also published photos of another man being crucified for being an Assad ''spy''.

 

The amputation occurred after the Friday prayers, saw a large crowd gathered, all wrapped in winter clothes waiting to witness the punishment.  The incident took place at al-Bab in Syria province of Aleppo.

Family of 7 burnt to death in a midnight inferno

Tragedy struck on Thursday when seven members of the same family got burnt in a midnight inferno at Anyamkor near Young Secondary School, Gboko, Benue State.

 

The fire which rav­aged four flats of two bedrooms each, started at Mr. Lawani Oye’s flat around 11.40pm and burnt to death the husband, wife and their five children.

The police on Fri­day arraigned five undergraduates of the Moshood Abi­ola Polytechnic, Abeoku­ta, Ogun State before an Isabo Magistrate Court over unlawful possession of firearms and member of a prohibited secret cult, the Black Axe.

 

The accused students in suit numbered MA/781c, include Olawale Olaniyi, Adeyemi Azeez,Olufalo Bidemi, Osilaja Hammed and Bashorun Sodiq.

Bruce Jenner, 65, was seen at the Starbucks coffee café in Malibu on Thursday looking downcast.

 

Curiously, the former TV reality star who had his 22-year-old marriage to Kris dissolved this week was still wearing  his wedding ring.  He had his head down with a beverage in one hand and a snack on the other.
