First Lady Patience Jonathan resign as Bayelsa State Permanent Secretary

The First Lady of Nigeria, Dame Patience Jonathan  has resigned her appointment as a permanent secretary in Bayelsa State.

It was gathered that her resignation is due to the broken down relationship between the first lady and the governor of Bayelsa State Governor Dickson Seriake.  The source stated that the whole thing is political and that the first lady opted for voluntary retirement so as to be able to slug it out with Dickson who many said has fallen out of favour.

Mrs. Patience Jonathan was made a permanent secretary in 2012.  According to Governor Dickson , it was in recognition of her service to the state and the nation.

The resignation is coming as a surprise because Mrs. Patience Jonathan is just 57 years while the retirement age in the civil service is 60 years.

Another source said she decided to resign because her stay as a Permanent Secretary was depriving other qualified people of the positing.  Now that she has thrown in the towel, it will afford others the opportunity to take her position.
