Other members of the gang arrested with Nasiru are Abubakar Sala, Ahmed Mohammed and Umaru Abubakar. Their leader Mohammed Abubaker was reportedly killed during exchange of gun fire with the police.
According to Nasiru 'I drink raw cow blood which enhances my confidence and spiritual powers anytime I want to go for any robbery operations'. He said he was surprise that the powers which he depended upon failed him during the operation which led to their being caught. He explained that he had killed so many people but that he will not mention the number. And that they only kill those who prove stubborn.
When asked how he came into Nigeria, Nasiru said he came through an Islamic scholar who employed him as a security guard. But had to leave when the scholar did not pay him his salary for months which made him to result to armed robbery. Their area of operation is mainly Lagos-Ibadan expressway, where innocent travellers are robbed and expensive cars are snatched at gun point from their owners. The cars are then driven across the Nigerian borders where they are sold at give away prices. According to the suspect, Camry cars depending on the model are sold between N350,000 and N650,000 while Highland SUV sells for N550,000 to N700,000.
The suspects were arrested by SARS after the killing of a security guard at Isheri Magodo on 11 May 2014. Dangerous weapons including three AK47 raffles, five pump action amongst other weapons were recovered from them by the police.
