US Ebola update: We are ''deeply sorry'' about Ebola mistakes

The Texas hospital that handled Thomas Eric Duncan's case and where two nurses are now down with the Ebola virus has come out to apologise for mistakes made.

Dr.Varga agreed that the hospital mishandled the case of Thomas Eric Duncan, an Ebola patient who was sent home several times when he reported at the hospital with full blown symptoms of the Ebola virus.

"Unfortunately, in our initial treatment of Mr. Duncan, despite our best intentions and a highly skilled medical team, we made mistakes," Varga, the chief clinical officer for Texas Health Services, said in written testimony to the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

"We did not correctly diagnose his symptoms as those of Ebola. We are deeply sorry."

Dr. Varga did say the hospital staffs were given guidance on looking for the Ebola symptoms several times over the summer.

CDC (Centre for Disease Control and Prevention) is considering putting 76 health workers of the hospital on transport security no-fly list.

Also being considered is lowering the threshold that would be considered a possible sign of Ebola.  Currently it is put at 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit.
