A security guard has been fired for riding the elevator with President Barack Obama armed with a gun

A security guard, Kenneth Tate has had his appointment terminated after he rode an elevator with President Barack Obama in September armed with a .40 calibre head gun.

An employee with the firm, Professional Security Corporation, Kenneth has worked at the CDC for 11 years during which time he escorts the agency's commissioners and other visiting dignitaries.

Kenneth Tate has said he was just following orders when he escorted the President who was visiting the CDC to address the growing Ebola epidemic.  He unknowingly violated a Secret Service protocol by carrying his CDC issued .40 calibre head gun into the elevator with the President.

He is also accused of taking photographs of the president's motorcade as he leaves the CDC with his mobile phone.

Kenneth feels he has been unjustly fired for doing his job.  He says he was authorised and even appointed to be on the elevator with the president on that day.

Secret Service authorities  are taking this security breech of allowing somebody fully armed to get so close to the president extremely serious.  After 2 failed attempts in recent times, where fence jumpers had succeeded in scaling the White House fence before they were stopped by the security has raised questions of the president's security.

Tate has threatened to seek redress in the court for wrongful termination and defamation against his former employer.
