A fresh out break of the Ebola virus in Koinadugu, a town in Sierra Leone which has prided itself on being the only town to have kept the Ebola virus at bay; has raised new fears of a new, uncontrollable infection chain that could send the death toll soaring.
The Red Cross had to send an ambulance to the remote town to urgently pick up 30 corpses for medical burial. There were reports of further 25 people ill with the virus and another 255 being monitored.
The new outbreak is a major setback for the Ebola team in Sierra Leone who had done all they can to curtail the spread of the virus which has claimed 1,510 of their citizens.
Koinadugu town is a district, which is home to more than 260,000 people, sharing borders with Guinea where the current outbreak started from. It is populated by many remote villages with the movement of traders and farmers difficult to control.
Report says the Ebola virus was brought into the town by an infected man which had travelled to the Eastern Province of Sierra Leone for a funeral.
