A video released onto the internet claims the Islamic State militants have killed the captured United States aid worker, Abdul Rahman Kassig.
The video which is yet to be confirm by the US government shows a masked militant standing over a severed head said to be that of Kassig.
Mr. Kassig, 26years, was a former US army medical personnel, who later went back to Syria to render medical assistance to injured Syrians. He was captured last year October. He later adopted Islam as his religion while captivity.
Mr. Kassig's parents who lived in Indiana released an extract from a letter written to them by their son. The letter states, ''This is the hardest thing a man can go through, the stress and fears are incredible.'' ''They tell us you have abandoned us and/or don't care, but of course we know you are doing everything you can and more.''
Don't worry Dad, if I go down, I won't go thinking anything but what I know to be true, that you and mum loves me more than the moon and the stars''.
