Scientist who discovered DNA is forced to sell his Nobel Prize for saying Africans are less intelligent.

James Watson, a scientist who won the 1962 Nobel Prize for the discovery of DNA is being forced to sell the prize after being shun by the scientific community.
 
Watson during an interview with the Sunday Times in 2007 stated that people of African descent were less intelligent than their white counterparts.  This statement sparked international outcry.
 
The American scientist said since making the controversial remark he had been shunned by the scientific community.  He was fired from the boards of a number of companies and has not given any public lectures since making the inflammatory remark.

The medal, the first to be auctioned by a living recipient is expected to fetch up to £2.5million.
 
Dr. Watson, 86, said he would use the proceeds from the sale to argument his income and give back to institutions that have supported him.
 
Dr. Watson shared the 1962 Nobel Prize awarded for discovery the double helix structure of DNA with British scientist Maurice Wilkins and Francis Crick.
