Banks in Okigwe town, Imo State have been shut for the past 2 weeks. This is as a result of threats letters they got from armed robbers telling them that they will be coming to raid them and collect their Christmas gifts.
Reports stated that as soon as soldiers who were drafted to the town to curb kidnapping cases were recalled back, security situation in the town deteriorated.
The letter from the armed robbers was said to have cause so much panic amongst the banks. And they quickly closed their doors against their customers.
Customers who wish to do any bank transactions now go to Owerri or Umuahai.
