Boko Haram attacks rated world second deadliest

Investigation by British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has disclosed that 5,042 people were killed in just one month in 664 jihadist attacks in 14 countries.  A daily average of 16 deaths or 7 every hour.
 
About 80 per cent of these deaths came from just 4 countries namely, Iraq, Nigeria, Syria and Afghanistan.  Iraq was the most dangerous place to be with 1,770 deaths in 233 attacks.
 
 

 
Nigeria came second with 786 deaths, almost all of them civilians killed in 23 Boko Haram attacks.
 
Afghanistan came third with 782 death while Syria took 4th with 693 deaths.
 
Of all the 16 jihadist groups involved in the blood shed, Islamic State (IS) was the most deadly, killing 2,206 people across Iraq and Syria.
 
Prof. Newmann, the Director of the International Centre for the study of Radicalization said Islamic State ''has rivalled'' if not replace - Al Qaeda as the leader of global jihadism.
