An Abuja High Court situated in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja today held that former President Obasanjo was in contempt of court for flouting the courts orders restraining him fro publishing his new autobiography ''The Watch.''
The former President was therefore given 21 days by Justice Valentine Ashi to give reasons why he should not be held for contempt for disobeying the orders of the court.
The court then further retrained him from publishing, printing or offering for sale the book which content touches on the subject matter before the court.
Justice Ashi had on December 5, given an interim orders restraining Obasanjo from proceeding with plans to publish the book.
Despite the court order, Obasanjo had gone ahead to launch the book stating the book had already been published before the court made the orders.
But Justice Ashi held that it was wrong for Obasanjo to have proceeded to publish the book despite the libel suit in court as regards the book. He said it was immaterial that the book had been published before the orders were given. He then stated, '' I hold the defendant not only in contempt of the court but to show cause why he should not be punished for contempt and ordered to undo what he has wrongly done.''
