Meet the ''hero'' pilot who succesfully averted an air disaster at the Gatwick airport yesterday

Meet Senior Pilot David William, 47, the hero pilot who safely landed the virgin Atlantic jumbo jet that was carrying more than 447 passengers, after it landing gear dramatically failed yesterday afternoon.

Captain William in his statement said he was only doing his job.  It is also understood that the father-of-three's 12-year-old daughter was on board the flight at the time of the 5-hour horrible ordeal.

The aircraft which was bound for Las Vegas was forced to return back to London where captain Williams who lives in Horsham, Sussex carried out an impressive emergency touch-down on broken landing gear.  Thereby saving the lives of 447 passengers and 15 crew members.
