Russian government denies link with Russian plane seized at the Aminu Kano International Airport

The Russian embassy in Nigeria has come out to refute any link with the airplane which flew into the Aminu Kano International Airport yesterday carrying arms and ammunitions.  They claim the plane is not Russian and has no link with Russia.

According to the Russian embassy twitter handle, @RusEmbNigeria, it says, ''according to the information of the embassy, the detained plane in Kano, allegedly carrying military hardware on board is not Russian.''

Speculations have hinted that the plane said to be carrying arms, bullet proof vests, a chopper, armoured vehicle had originated from Russia and was on his way to Chad before it was intercepted by security officials at the airport.

The General Manager of FAAN, Yakubu Datti who confirmed the seizure of the plane said the pilot radioed in seeking for permission to land the plane at the airport after the plane developed some technical problems.

Mr. Datti said the agencies have since commenced investigation into the matter.
