Former Speaker, House of Representative, Dimeji Bankole finally decamp to the Labour Party

Strong indication from Abeokuta, Ogun State has it that the former Speaker of House of Representative, Dimeji Bankole has moved his political structure from PDP to the Labour Party in the state so as to be able to achieve his ambition of becoming the Ogun State governor after February 14, 2015.
 
The father of the former Speaker, Chief Alani Suarau Bankole, was said to have held a closed-door meeting with the leaders of the LP last week at his Onikolobo residence, in Abeokuta.
 

Those who took part in the meeting were,  the state Chairman of the party, Olabode Simeon, the state Secretary, Sunday Oginni, the governorship candidate of the party, Abolaji Sunmola, his campaign Director-General, Abayomi Arabambi and other top leaders of the party in the state.

Sources said the former Speaker who was denied the governorship ticket of the People’s Democratic Party resolved to join either the Labour Party or the Social Democratic Party to protest his failure to get the ticket.  The former Speaker’s father has promised to collapse his son’s political structure into that of the LP ahead of next month’s election. 

He is said to have directed the supporters of his son under the auspices of Dimeji Bankole Movement across the entire state to work for the Labour Party in the state. 

Confirming the meeting, the state Secretary of the party, Oginni, said the meeting with Bankole’s father was part of the consultation to notable leaders in the state.

Oginni said the endorsement of the LP’s governorship candidate was a boost to the party, saying, it would not disappoint Bankole’s supporters, as “Labour Party is set to accommodate all interest groups across party divides”.
