One of those campaigning to be governor of Rivers State stole N3 billion - Gov. Amaechi

One of those campaigning to be governor of Rivers State was the contractor who was meant to build a road in Rivers State, he abandoned the road, took the N3 billion and left.

These were the words of Governor Rotimi Amaechi yesterday at the rally held at the Amesiemake stadium to celebrate the seventh year anniversary of him as the governor of the state.

He said he single handedly built the 40,000 capacity stadium where the rally took place.  He used the opportunity to thank the justices of the Supreme court for delivery the judgement that brought him in as governor in 2007.

Amaechi lambasted the President Jonathan saying  “They said the reason the President is not performing in Rivers is because he is quarrelling with the governor. Okay, what is the quarrel with the governor of Cross River and Akwa Ibom that the road to Cross River is abandoned?.  Are they quarrelling  too? It is more of lack of performance.

He also mentioned that the Federal Government abandoned the state when a case of Ebola was detected in Rivers State.  He accused the Federal Government of frustrating the move by his administration to provide potable water for the people of the state.

Present at the rally were; Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwanso of Kano State, National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Odigie Oyegun, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, General Muhamadu Buhari.  About 3,000 PDP members decamped to the APC at the occasion and were received by the National Chairman of the APC party.
