Former Governor of Anambra State Peter Obi has explained the reason why he dumped APGA for PDP. He said APGA has derailed and turned into an empty shell without an inner core of shared value.
He was reacting to the disappointment expressed by Mrs. Bianca Ojukwu, wife of the late Biafran Lord, Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu for defecting to the ruling party PDP.
Mrs. Ojukwu agreed that Obi made immense contributions to the party and that they were all proud of the achievements as governor of the state. But that his defection was not only a disappointment to his supporters whom he left demoralised, but it is also a betrayal of the late Ojukwu who believed that Obi will stand with the party no matter the situation.
Obi agreed that all what Mrs. Ojukwu said must be taken seriously as she is known not to be a frivolous person
“Of all those who have spoken, and who will continue to speak, on the issue of my leaving APGA, only Bianca spoke with sincerity. She does not fall into the class of those who are now displaying dated video clippings and presenting matters out of context for political reasons, without appreciating the sacrifice put into building the house they are now destroying.”
Obi said the APGA of today is no longer propagating the core principles of the late Ikemba and hat he will not stay in a group which has departed from his original course and who do not appreciate his presence. He said he kept his promise to the great leader, finished his two terms on the APGA platform and also enthroned an APGA governor.
