Ayodele Fayose has been affirmed as the winner of the Ekiti State Governorship election by the election tribunal

The Ekiti State governorship election petition tribunal sitting in Abuja today affirmed the return of Governor Ayodele Fayose as the rightful winner of the governorship election conducted in Ekiti State in June 2014.

The panel held that the witnesses presented by the petitioner were unable to submit concrete evidence to support their claims of corrupt practises at the polling units.

The panel also held that the petitioner failed  to produce witnesses from most  of the pooling units to substantiate the allegation of improper and non accreditation of voters at the pooling units.

The panel also said as at the time Fayose declared his interest to contest for the governorship position of Ekiti State, APC was aware of the alleged disqualification and the issue was already before an Ekiti State High Court before the election which makes the issue a pre-election matter which the tribunal does not have the power to entertain,
