Boy attacked by dogs withdrawn from LASUTH, flown to India

The 4-year-old boy, Omonigho Abraham who was savagely bitten and part of his skull chewed off by two German shepherd dogs in Igando area of Lagos, was  few days ago withdrawn from the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital and has been flown to India to continue his treatment.

Mr. Odia, the father of the boy said the Delta State Government and an NGO organisation, Global Initiative for Peace, Love and Care, GIPLC based in Abuja teamed up to make the trip possible.  Odia said the boy and his mother left Nigeria on Friday for India.

The Lagos State Government however stated that the withdrawal of Omonigho Abraham from the Burns and Plastic Unit of LASUTH was against medical advice.  That the Lagos State Government had already set in motion further treatment of the boy at RAK Hospital in Dubai.  He said, Mr. Odia who initially agreed to the plans of Lagos State Government to send the boy for further treatment at the RAK Hospital in Dubai suddenly announced that his son will be flown to India.  And all efforts for the Lagos State Government to assist in the India trip was rejected by Mr. Odia.

Omonigho Abraham was attacked by two German Shepherd dogs belonging to his father's
landlord, Stanley Wesley.  The dogs were said to have pursued Omonigho and his two brother, Osemudiamen (7) and Bobby (13).  While his two brothers escaped by jumping from the one-storey building, the dogs savagely attacked Omonigho and chew off part of his skull
