Former Speaker House of Representative, Dimeji Bankole to fly SDP flag for February Gubernatorial election in Ogun State

Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Honourable Dimeji Bankole, appears to have been finally picked as the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to represent the party at February election.

Governor Ibikunle Amosun’s deputy governor, Prince Segun Adesegun, will most likely be his running mate.

Adesegun, it will be recalled had dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) for SDP, following a no love lost relationship between him and Amosun.

A source had it that the decision to pick Bankole was arrived at after a meeting between some prominent elders in Egbaland and former governor of the state, Chief Olusegun Osoba, somewhere at Ake area of Abeokuta, the state capital.

Reports had it last week that loyalists of the former speaker had perfected plans to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), if the national leadership of the party failed to address alleged injustice recorded in the last congresses.

The party, according to the source, may unveil Bankole/Adesegun by this Friday.
