The Lagos State
Police Command is battling to unravel the killers of a yet-to-be identified man
whose corpse was left in the Orile area of Lagos State.
The deceased
was was said to have been abandoned on Kekere Ekun Street in a pool of blood
and with a stab wound.
Residents
alerted the police after seeing the body in the wee hours of December 27, 2014.
The police
from the Orile division were said to have evacuated the corpse to the Lagos
Mainland Hospital morgue.
A security
source explained to PUNCH Metro that information available to the police
showed the victim was murdered by a notorious gangster, identified simply as
White.
He said, “The
incident happened on Kekere Ekun Street, around Orile Coker. We learnt a man
called White had a fight with the victim the previous day and people separated
them and they both went their separate ways.
“After the
fight, the suspect got a machete which he used on the victim before he fled the
area.
“People have,
however, not been able to identify the victim and some of the residents have
refused to say anything to the police on the case.”
Our
correspondent was told that when the Orile police could not get a breakthrough
on the case, the matter was transferred to the state Criminal Investigation
Department, Yaba.
PUNCH Metro gathered that the SCID police found it difficult to crack the case as no
one gave the police information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect or
identification of the victim.
The Police
Public Relations Officer, Kenneth Nwosu, had yet to return a call seeking his
reaction.
