Boko Haram ceasefire: 218 Chibok girls to gain freedom on Monday

The Federal Government through the Nigerian military on Friday said it had entered a ceasefire agreement with the dreaded Boko Haram sect.  With this, there are strong indications that the Chibok girls who were abducted over six months ago from their school might be released by Monday.

The ceasefire deal was announced to the nation by the Chief of Defence staff, Air Marshall Alex Badeh.

The government spokes person said the agreement was reached after one month of negotiation led by the Chadian President Idriss Deby in Saudi Arabia.

The defence Headquarters have also directed all its service chiefs to obey the ceasefire agreement and stop all further offensive against the sect.

Badeh said, “Without any prejudice to the outcome of our three days interactions, and the conclusions of this forum, I wish to inform this audience that a ceasefire agreement has been concluded between the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Allul Sunna Li Daawa Waj Jihad.
“I have accordingly directed the service chiefs to ensure immediate compliance with this development in the field.”

It will be recalled that the abduction of over 200 school girls sparked international outrage and saw many world personalities including Barack Obama, Mitchell Obama, the Pope, many heads of state leading their voices to the unconditional release of the school girls.
