Girlfriend to the late Senzo Meyiwa, murdered Bafana Bafana Captain, Kelly Khumalo released a short statement after the murder of her boyfriend in her home in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni.
Kelly in her statement says, , “Kelly Khumalo and her family would like to express their sincere condolences to the Meyiwa family for the loss of Senzo Meyiwa, who was tragically shot at their family home in Vosloorus, in the presence of Kelly’s family [her mother Ntombi, sister Zandi, and son Christian, Tumelo and Mthoko [Senzo's friends] and Longwe Twala,”
“This has been an incredibly traumatic experience for the Khumalo family. As the law takes its course, they request that they be given space and privacy to deal with this tragedy; and they thank you for the prayers and support.”
Khumalo has borne the brunt of much anger in the wake of Meyiwa’s death. Khumalo and Meyiwa were reportedly in an on-off again relationship.
Meyiwa’s father, Sam, has come out to say he does not want Khumalo at his son’s funeral: “The service is open to anyone who wants to come to pay their last respects to Senzo, but that girl (Kelly Khumalo) is not welcome. She mustn’t even think about coming,” Meyiwa’s father, Samuel was quoted as saying.
