A soldier standing guard at the Canada's National war memorial in Ottawa was shot by an unknown gunman today. The gunman was later killed in a shootout inside the parliament building.
Police confirmed that they are looking for more than one attacker. Witnesses said the gunman was carrying a rifle and fired dozens of shots.
While the parliament remain on lock down police have warned people to stay away from windows and roof tops.
Officials confirmed shots were also fired near Rideau centre, a shopping mall and the National war memorial.
Ottawa hospital has confirmed receipt of three patients. Two are said to be in a stable condition. Emergency responders are all at the scene.
Canada had raised its domestic terror threat level to medium after series of terrorists threats were received.
The incident comes just two days after two Canadian soldiers were run over and one died in Quebec by a jihadist sympathies.
ISIS had asked their supporters to carry out attacks against Western Countries including Canada for their participation in the US led coalition battling with ISIS in Iran and Syria.
