A thief who stole jewelleries worth £250,000 on May 18th was caught after he forgot his mobile phone at the scene of the crime with a selfie as a screen saver.

He entered the shop with a lady who had a baby in a buggy claiming to be looking for an engagement ring.  He left but returned 30 minutes later asking to see the rings again to enable him compare the designs.  Only for him to grab them and ran out of the shop.
When police arrived at the scene and were conducting their investigations, the suspects phone suddenly lit up having received a test message.  A selfie pooped up as the screen saver and the shop attendant who attended to him was able to identify him as the thief.

Police said Fofana hurriedly ran from the shop forgetting his bag and his mobile phone.  He was tied  to forty-five other offences.

As at the time of his arrest he only had on him £250 and a fake Omega watch.

Fofana was sentenced to five and a half year imprisonment.
