A new video obtained by AFP shows the leader of the Boko Haram sect Abubakar Shekau claiming that the sect has not entered into any ceasefire with the Federal Government of Nigeria. And that the 219 school girls kidnapped from their school in Chibok, Borno State in April had all converted to Islam and married off.
He says, “We have not made ceasefire with anyone…“We did not negotiate with anyone… It’s a lie. It’s a lie. We will not negotiate. What is our business with negotiation? Allah said we should not.” He also said he did not know any Danladi.
The video comes after a surprise Nigerian military and presidency announced on October 17, that a deal had been reached with the insurgents to end the fighting. And that the sect had agreed to free the school girls.
But Shekau speaking in Hausa, dressed in Military fatigues and boot with a black turban and flanked by 15 armed fighters said they have not made any ceasefire with anyone.
There was however, no indication of when the video was recorded. But it was obtained through the same source others in the past had been obtained.
Shekau, in the video also claimed that they are holding a German national, which they abducted July 16 in Gombe. About 100 kilometres from Yola the Adamawa capital. The German is believed to be a teacher in a government technical training centre in Gombe.
From 2012 up till date, Boko Haram have severally abducted foreign nationals which they exchanged for ransom.
